Investigating an issue whereby students logon to a newly imaged Windows 10 PC (1903 Edu) on which Office 365 is installed and they are not being logged in to Office 365 correctly so therefore cannot save any documents in WORD, EXCEL etc.

The same Win10 image was deployed to over 100 staff PC's this summer and I've had no reports from any staff that they are having issues.

Any ideas where to start the troubleshooting process?

We are using Shared Computer Activation!

All the students and the PC's are in our Azure AD and look correct.

I was about to start rolling out the same image to more student PC's but need to understand why some devices/students are being affected by this....

We've narrowed the issue down to 8 of the 30 PC's in the first suite to be re-imaged. They are randomly around the room.

Obviously if the computers cannot get out to the internet then they can't activate!

What's weird is that these PC's DO HAVE INTERNET ACCESS at the User level...

Do you have a proxy that requires user auth before granting access to the web? That will need amending to allow the devices access too? Trick thing will be doing that without having user internet use showing as device access.

For over a week now, many of our staff and students have been unable to sign into Office 365, especially on devices they haven't used before. It's a known issue but doesn't seem to be affected that many users. When they try and log in to the portal, they just get a sorry, that didn't work message. Could this be what you are experiencing?

Hi,

No it was the issue about the PC's thinking they were not connected to the internet when they were, I thought I'd fixed that with some registry changes but it appeared the reg keys were not importing correctly through group policy. Annoying.
