ridleyrumpus Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 Hi @Bromcom_Support, I am trying to use your seating plan utility. I teach in about 20 different rooms this year, it will be a pain to create 20 different seating arrangements esp as every other teacher will be doing the same thing for exactly the same rooms. Can we not create an arrangement that is shareable? I teach 2-3 different classes in the same room do I have to design the room again each time? Is there a way to place the "desks" so that they are touching each other? Ridley
DanSears Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 In the update release tomorrow you will be able create and share room layouts between teachers and classes. Hope that helps. 1
ridleyrumpus Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 Presumably that is automatically rolled out?
DanSears Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Hi @ridleyrumpus, all our updates for our cloud based customers are automatically rolled out. I believe a message had gone out to customers yesterday that this release update has been rescheduled for 18th, the development team wanted to carryout additional testing of the new statutory changed from the DfE before customer release.
ridleyrumpus Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 So the 18th not today? You had me excited there for a minute ;-)
DanSears Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 Really sorry, I was excited yesterday too. Thought I had saved you loads of time, I know what its like with seating plans. Back to squared paper for the next two weeks..
ridleyrumpus Posted September 18, 2020 Author Posted September 18, 2020 Really sorry, I was excited yesterday too. Thought I had saved you loads of time, I know what its like with seating plans. Back to squared paper for the next two weeks.. Is today an exciting day?
DanSears Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Yes, it goes live tonight, so you can copy your seating plans to your hearts content over the weekend
ridleyrumpus Posted September 21, 2020 Author Posted September 21, 2020 Mmmmm. Unless I am missing a trick I cannot see how to get it to work, when I select copy a seating plan that I have created for another class it doesn't accept it. Assuming I can get it working is there a way to share the seating plans with other teachers?
sonofsanta Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Anytime I choose "Copy a Seating Plan" from the actions menu I get "No seating plan is available to copy" pop up, regardless of whether I'm on an empty plan (so do we copy them in from elsewhere?) or a populated plan (so do we export a completed plan to other classes?) How's it actually meant to work?
ridleyrumpus Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 I have tried everyway that I can think of and I have to conclude that at the moment the "seating plan" part of BromCom is not working or so hard to use that it is not worth the effort.
Bromcom_support2 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Hi ridleyrumpus and sonofsanta, there are no known issues with the seating plan at present. I have linked the How To guide below and if you have followed this and still cannot get it to work then please do raise a support case. You will see from the guide that this is still intended to be used by teachers for their own classes and not for administrators to create ''general'' seating plans available to all. Guide: https://docs.bromcom.com/knowledge-base/how-to-create-a-seating-plan/ Please do contact us at support if you are still experiencing issues. Bromcom Support
sonofsanta Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 I happened to have occasion to check this with a teacher this morning and it did give me options for where to copy a seating plan to, so I suppose it's looking at the fact I don't have any registers/classes allocated personally and complaining that I have nowhere to copy it to. It was never my intention to create general seating plans for people--as if I'd have the time!--but I wanted to be sure it was working before I let teachers knew it was available. 1
CyBeRkId2002 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Hi @DanSears. Am I reading this right in that there is no way to share seating plans between teachers. As with most schools we have rapidly switched from students moving around school to staff so obviously they are now in a variety of different rooms / layouts. Is it on the roadmap to allow us as admins to make layouts and then allow staff to use them?
DanSears Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 @Cyberkld2002 As far as I am aware currently it is individual teachers are able to reuse their plans. We are developing to allow staff to share plans, so admins could create plans for the rest of the staff to use. Hope that helps? Dan.
CyBeRkId2002 Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Thanks Dan, it certainly does help... will keep my eyes peeled on the release notes over the coming months! Cheers 1
supportman Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Is it possible for other people to upload seating plans to someone else’s class?
sonofsanta Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 Is it possible for other people to upload seating plans to someone else’s class? If you can get to the register, you can do the seating plan. You can only copy seating plans to classes for which you're a teacher, but you could maybe get around that by setting yourself as deputy head of subject so that you get all the classes made available to you--not tested, but that works for the Lesson dashboard at least 2

I wanted to create room layouts for all teachers and be able to share them from a central "system," location.
DanSears Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Hi @Jaan, This is currently in development. I have see some screenshots of how you will be able to set seating plans up against rooms for all users of that room to be able to make use of. It is due for release mid-late August for staff to be able to make use of in the new term. As an ex-IT Teacher this will be an amazing development with all staff using a standardised plans will help no end. 1
