Hi, I have on occasion used my School's Office 365 work account on my personal PC at home to carry out some school work. A few days ago I noticed that my personal PC was logged into my work account and what is more appeared more embedded than I realised, seeing my profile in the MSN feed etc and showing that I was logged in. But we are supposed to go through 2FA to log in. And if I try to use an Office 365 App it does indeed ask me to go through 2FA, but certain parts of Windows are showing me that I am logged in. So I went onto my school account and used the log out of all devices option. But yesterday I turned on my personal PC, had not logged into my Work account in anyway, not used an Office 365 app etc but I was once again logged back into my Schools account. My IT department are telling me that as it is a personal PC they are not interested, but I am concerned for myself AND for our students who are told to log into the shcools systems from home on their personal PCs. Two things. 1) How do I ensure that it only logs into the account when I want it to. 2) If it is logged into my work account like this, how much information can be logged about my Windows usage on my personal PC? You can add a Sharepoint Library as a cloud storage option, you do not need to use dropbox etc. That way you could add many different Sharepoint libraries that all appear in the "file" section of teams as folders, personally I think that that is a better solution that using the TAB option. When you create a SubSite you can say whether you want it to inherit permissions.
-
We were not going to use the TAB option but the "Add Cloud Storage" option, that way the students view does not get really messy if they need to add more than a few to the tabs, there's not much real estate up there. We are trying to get our heads around the permissions settings, one of the reasons for using SubSites so that the teachers/students are not able to see/edit every other subjects resource area! (It would be much easier if they had shared drives like google drive does.)

We are trying to move our files into the cloud but file sharing in O365 seems difficult. We can use teams but if we want to share resources with several classes we don't want to be upkeeping multiple teams esp when they'll all change next year anyway. We also want to keep it as simple as possible for the students and non tech teachers. I have looked at creating a SharePoint site say "student resources" then creat subsites from this for each subject, and then share the document libraries as "cloud storage" in teams. Is this a good way to do it, or are we thinking about this all wrong?

Choice eliminator on a Google Form or one of the similar one works great for me, I've been using it for years (in an O365 school). Afaia there is no similar functionality available in ms forms

Is there a way of pushing homework details from MS Teams into Bromcom? Or is there even a way of pushing homework details into Bromcom at all?

[ms office - 2011 (mac)] OneDrive Sync
ridleyrumpus replied to ridleyrumpus's topic in Office Software
Whats GPO? -
Thanks for that, does that include full access to office for the students?
-
Thanks for that, but I am just wanting to get a ball park figure. Is it likely to be below £5k, £20K, £50K? per year More?
-
I have started using OneDrive and syncing to Sharepoint/Teams Folders so that it appears very conveniently in the file explorer. However I have noticed that if I access OneDrive online I don't seem to be able to access those folders from there, can I?
-
Hi I know that this is a "how long is a piece of string" type question but ball park figures on licencing an MS system for 100 teachers and 30 support staff and 1000 pupils all with MS 365 in desktop apps, I presume Exhange server and 4 file servers. Very ball park figures only.

Thanks for the reply. So the School admin should be able to turn them on for me? I did ask for Sharepoint to be turned on but she said that we don't have the licence for the app, I am not convinced that that is true.

Hi, I am working in a School that is using MS 365 and I would like to use Sharepoint to create an Intranet site, but I have been told that we don't have the licence for the Sharepoint "App". Also I would like to use SWAY but cannot see this either. I have looked at the options A1, A3 etc and both seem to include these programmes, is it possible to have a MS 365 licence without these programmes/apps?

OneNote Content Library files are editable
ridleyrumpus replied to ridleyrumpus's topic in Office Software
That link has nothing about file permissions. TBH file permission control is a pretty basic requirement in a collaborative/shared environment. What exactly then is the point of the content library if you cannot insert files and protect them? Or rather you can if you insert it as a pdf or a printout which is pretty pointless for a worksheet. You can do that in any section, so what exactly is the point of Content Library if you cannot protect what you put in there. -
According to the "Getting Started with the Content Library" "The Content Library is a place for materials such as readings or worksheets. Think of it as the big filing cabinet foryour classroom documents. Only a teacher can put materials into the ContentLibrary. Students can read or copy anything in the Content Library to their ownnotebooks, but can't modify or delete that content." Yet when I have uploaded a ppt and a docx file into the content library a student was able to edit both files, what is going on?

Google can now read and write office format files. Having used MS 365 and Google WorkSpace I would stick with Google everytime, far easier to use and administer. You will never see the benefit of the Google Suite if you do not embrace using the native apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides etc) it is only when you are using those and sharing etc can you realise the power of the system.

Microsoft Teams. In a nutshell how does it work?
ridleyrumpus replied to Sonic007's topic in Office Software
Except, with respect, the teams/onenote approach appears to have so many gotchas and of you can't do that's that for me it it just useless. I have used the Google approach before and it just "works" why do MS have such a poor approach to permissions etc.vwhy does the desktop version have facility X and not the browser and vice versa? I have to be honest if you have a choice don't use this garbage. -
I want to insert a doc/ppt etc into OneNote and have students be able to download the document but not be able to edit that copy, how can I do this? At the moment even though they cannot edit the OneNote section if they download the doc/ppt they can then edit it, which then changes the OneNote version too, not good. This happens even if the file is in the Content Section as well.

I have tried everyway that I can think of and I have to conclude that at the moment the "seating plan" part of BromCom is not working or so hard to use that it is not worth the effort.
-
Mmmmm. Unless I am missing a trick I cannot see how to get it to work, when I select copy a seating plan that I have created for another class it doesn't accept it. Assuming I can get it working is there a way to share the seating plans with other teachers?

Is today an exciting day?

I am presently new to Teams/OneNote and am trying to develop an online series of lessons for each year and topic that I teach. I have a central Notebook structured like Year8-Respiration-Breathing -Pages Which I would like to copy over to the relevant classes when needed, but I can see an issue when a teacher selected "move" rather than "copy" as it would destroy the central resource. I have tried password protecting the Section but that doesn't prevent a teacher from moving the sections/pages to another notebook. Is there a way of preventing a teacher from Moving sections to another Notebook?
-
Thanks for that. I cannot find the "pencil" is it possible that the school have disabled that, or am I looking in the wrong place?
-
Is it possible to have a central repository for SoW and content for pupils per topic, that you then share into the classnotebook for that class but that still mirrors the repository? So that you could add a resource in the repository and it then cascades into all the classes that are using it?
-
Thanks for that, where do I find the field for that?
