MiFare Readers Apps for windows

I have a Paxton MiFare card reader and a ACR1281U-C8

 

I want to try and grab the MiFare card numbers so I can import them in to Papercut, Paxton and Entry-Sign.

 

Paxton is faily painless and tap the card on the reader when creating the card.

 

Papercut and EntrySign are slightly more long painly - especially Entry-Sign!!

 

Anyone know of any windows based software that will work with either the Paxton Desktop Card Reader and/or the ACR1281U-C8 reader

It looks like the ACR1281U supports keyboard emulation, in which case you should be able to scan the mifair cards and have it kick out a plane text string into notepad/excel/etc.

If I could understand how Entry sign generate their ID Tokens i could manage a I found on here an excel formula on to convert from Entry-Sign to Papercut/Paxton but not the other way around.

Do you have a reader on your printer for PaperCut. They are normally just running in USB keyboard emulation mode. If so try one of them.

 

As for the different formats of the card numbers this is normally just Depending on if it’s in hex integer and different ordering of the bites. Also Paxton Only uses part of the card number so you can go Papercut to Paxton But not Paxton to PaperCut as it will be missing some of the information end of the card number.

Hope you don't mind me asking to share the excel formula to convert Entry-Sign to Paxton? It will be very helpful for me as we have just installed the Paxton and I am told to issue new cards to staff. The Entry-Sign MiFare card will not work! Do you think it will work on new Paxton?

EntrySign actually utilises the full token number, it is usually the Paxton readers which are manipulating the number and truncating it. It is not possible to recreate the full token number from the number stored in Net2 since there is no way of recreating the 'missing' part. It is possible however to push the tokens (and in fact the users as well) from EntrySign directly into Paxton and you can also export these to CSV if required and even automate it completely to enable importing into other systems. I'd be more than happy to provide further information on this if required.

Paxton is a funny one,

 

I have a spreadsheet like so :-

 

The usb card reader I have reads like so :- 1234567890

 

So ColA = 1234567890 (read straight from card reader)

 

ColB is big endian so the formula is =DEC2HEX(A1) which gives us 499602D2

 

ColC is little endian so the formula is =RIGHT(B1,2) & MID(B1,5,2) & MID(B1,3,2) & LEFT(B1,2) which gives us D2029649

 

ColD is decimal from ColC so the formula is =HEX2DEC(C1) which gives us 3523384905

 

And ColE is the final paxton and paxton is the last 8 digits for some reason so the formula is =RIGHT(D1,8) which gives us the number to paste into paxton for the token which is = 23384905

 

The card readers for our papercut is the little endian column I believe so I just use powershell to import that into the pager field in AD

 

I need to get around to automating this at some point! But the spreadsheet works well

Yes, it's likely that EntrySign and Papercut are using the same token/format (unless the readers used on Papercut are configured to manipulate the token) as EntrySign doesn't normally manipulate the token in any way (although it can if needed), so it really shouldn't be painful at all. Also, you mention that you import the token into AD - EntrySign also has the ability to pull tokens from an AD attribute and then push into Paxton if required so it can actually make things really easy.

It’s worth noting that although the card readers mentioned above are great and can emulate keyboards. Perhaps a better solution can also be achieved with an arduino (atmel atmega32u4 based) and a cheap rfid module for less than £10.

 

I have added a keypad to mine, so I can output the UID as Hexidecimal, decimal or ‘paxton’ with the press of a key. Doesn’t require any drivers on the pc and can be used as a macro keyboard too.

 

I should really put the code on github.

Sorry to hijack the thread - i just can't seem to get any of these formulas to tell me what the paxton number is from my papercut number, and our access company are no help.

 

Tried all these and they don't even come close to the number the sensor is reading.

Any help much appreciated

Just start off with a card and a usb reader and see what it outputs, maybe create a spreadsheet like mine and see if any of the numbers match?
