Sheridan Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 I've got one ipad (out of a trolley of 20 identical ones) that stubbornly refuses to join our Mosyle MDM - I always get to the point when the profile is downloaded, but attempting to install it simply says 'Profile installation failed' This ipad works fine, and is identical to the other 19. Its been reset/prepared multiple times but will not work with the profile! The date/time etc are all OK and its never been joined to another MDM (its been ours from new) so I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions as to what can cause this? We have 3 other trolleys of the same ipads, and they're all working too, so its 1 out of 80 in total!
Brimstone Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 Same version iof iOS ? any older AC2 Profiles on it? Are these being enrolled to the MDM via DEP? If you previously get a SCEP error with a MDM profile installation you may need to DFU the iPad to ensure it is wiped.
Sheridan Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 They all the same iPad hardware and iOS, I've tried manually adding the profile from Moysles deployment page and also directly from AC2 They have an AC2 profile on them which connects to the wifi - they all have the same profile. I've done a DFU/reset twice (via the ipad 'reset all settings' and once using itunes) before preparing it. I've also tried using a hotspot in case it was a weird filtering issue. Same result every time, I wonder if Mosyle thinks this device has already been registered or something like that? Although the profile just doesn't install so it never seems to connect to Moysle to become managed.
Brimstone Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 What do mean by manually adding the profile from Mosyle...? why aren’t you using DEP? Are devices from a reseller who no longer exist?
Sheridan Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 You can add a device in Moysle by simply browsing to a url they provide, which downloads a profile. Its worked on the other 79 that way These were bought a while ago and weren't registered in DEP by a previous tech and the company is no longer around
Guest Guest Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 You can enroll them yourself https://manager.mosyle.com/itinsights/how-to-enroll-a-donated-apple-device-in-the-device-enrollment-program
Brimstone Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 So I would assume you are either... Not Supervising them at all, or You've Supervised them in AC2 (That's more than likely where the error is coming from) Rather than do this you're better off getting into ASM and DEP manually
gwizzz Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 @Sheridan were you able to find a solution? I am having the exact same problem but with about 10 iPads in my fleet of a few hundred. I have tried with and without going via ASM/DEP
OverWorked Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 I've found the same problem on a few old iPads. The time and date were wrong which prevents safari verifying the cert. Re-enabled time to set automatically. https://appuals.com/safari-cant-verify-the-identity-of-the-website-error-message/
gsk Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Try not adding the Wifi Profile in AC2 and just connect to the wifi manually on that iPad. Try adding Mosyle as an MDM provider in AC2 so that it does the initial enrolment bit on there rather than through the browser If the above don't work, try adopting it into DEP on ASM
