OK, how do I get rid of "Open File Location" when searching for an app on the Start menu

 

I'd like to keep the search, if at all possible, but I'm happy to get rid of it. Disabling access to the C drive breaks One Drive Files on Demand, so I don't really want to do that.

Why do you want to get rid of it?

Because, despite what your opinion of it is, I don't want it in my schools. You may do as you wish in your establishment, but your habit of calling out everyone who doesn't do things exactly the same way you do is grating, to say the least.

Wasn't there a way to disable right click in File Explorer/start menu, or was that for something else??

I can disable the right click on the start menu - that's a simple GPO in W10 1909, but this is when I search from the start menu - so if I click on Start, and type notepad, for example, I get the options in my image, including open file location. I'd rather students not be able to browse the C drive - they can't break anything, but it's a distraction.

I did this is the past but only by disabling search from the start menu. If I remember correctly a user gpo with a software restriction policy to disable access to:

C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy

I actually thought it did work in the start menu but it was a few years ago, possibly still under XP (where has that time gone), lol.

Tried this too - still no joy - I think Microsoft have split Cortana and search.
