Since moving to Server 2019 the shared printer seems to frequently be getting stuck on print jobs.

The most up to date correct drivers are being used. Going direct in the driver to the printer from the machine does not cause any problems, so seems to be an issue that is somehow Server 2019 related. Likewise the same printer never had any problems on the previous server.

I also spent a long time with the photocopier company (printer is a leased photocopier) and went through all settings which they confirmed are all correct. A few changes were made but it is still happening.

Trying to find a pattern it mostly seems to happen when printing image files. The only way to get it going again is to delete the jobs and restart the spooler service.

Has anyone else come across this problem on Server 2019 recently?

How big are the image files, at a previous employment people were printing documents with imported images from cameras without compressing causing the MFDs frequently lock up. There is a location to check on the print server for large files, cannot remember off my head where it is though, might be some kind of spooler folder??

Real PITA especially as they always done it near exam time.

Might be worth a check especially if it is an intermitent.

Latest driver is good. But a lot of the time you try a pcl6 then try a pcl or universal driver.

Check that paper size is set correctly and set to resize print to the correct paper

Just an idea Richard
