The safety and wellbeing of babies is our absolute priority. As a precautionary measure, Nestlé is voluntarily recalling specific batches of its SMA infant formula and follow-on formula. 

  

This is due to the potential presence of cereulide in the batches concerned.

 

Batch codes can be found on the base of the tin or box for powdered formulas or the base of the outer box and on the side / top of the container for ready-to-feed formulas.

 

Nevertheless, out of an abundance of caution, Nestlé has decided to perform this voluntary product recall in line with our strict product quality and safety protocols. 

 

Consumers who may have these batches should not feed this product to their baby.

 

If you have purchased one of these batches, please share a photo of the product and the batch code via https://www.nestle.co.uk/en-gb/getintouch or by calling our careline on 0800 0 81 81 80 (UK) 1800 931 832 (Ireland) and we will refund you.  

 

If you have been prescribed one of these batches listed please destroy the product and speak to your Healthcare Professional for advice on an alternative...

Bottles of children’s play sand have been withdrawn from shelves by the craft retailer Hobbycraft after a parent discovered they were contaminated with asbestos.

 

The parent, who did not wish to be named, raised the alarm after her children played with the sand at a party.

 

She sent samples off to a testing lab, which found traces of asbestos fibres in the bottles of yellow, green and pink sand sold in Hobbycraft’s Giant Box of Craft arts kit.

 

Asbestos can cause cancer in later life if inhaled, although the risk to children who played with the sand is thought to be low.

 

The discovery came two months after asbestos traces found in similar play sand products in Australia prompted a government recall and the closure of schools and nurseries across the country and in New Zealand.

 

All the affected products are manufactured in China, where items containing less than 5% of asbestos can be labelled asbestos-free. UK law says that there is no safe limit for exposure to the mineral...

Parents in the UK are being warned not to feed their babies using a particular batch of Aptamil First Infant Formula made by Danone.

The company is recalling the product because it contains a toxin, called cereulide, which can cause vomiting.

Important update on first-aid kits For colleagues responsible for first aid

 

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have issued updated warnings advising the public to stop using non-sterile alcohol-free cleansing wipes. This follows contamination incidents linked to Burkholderia stabilis infections.

 

The risk to the public remains low, but it is important that we ensure that any wipes in our first aid kits are safe to use.

 

Affected products

 

Non-sterile alcohol-free wipes, of any brand, are not considered safe for use on broken skin.

 

The following four products in particular have shown contamination in tests:

Less said about my GP surgery the better, but shows some of the state of affairs when I get information like this from an IT forum before the GP, who gives me the stuff in the first place does!

Both of my daughters' cars have had a recall, 2008 Astra and 2007 Polo, airbags on both of them. As a suggestion, if you have a min to late 2000s VW or Vauxhall, check the Mot website as that will tell you about outstanding recalls.
