imullings Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 I have been asked to find/create a program to manage our sports day results. I am just about to start the coding but I wondered what other schools do? Have you found a good free/commercial program to handle this job? Ian Mullings Devizes School IT Support 1
kesomir Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Open Office calc. Alternatively, you could use excel.
jcollings Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Excel here - enter results, works out points, gives form and year totals etc. Welcome to a copy if you want.
Oops_my_bad Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Can the P.E staff not just write them down? That's what they do here.. Or would this be too much work for them?
jcollings Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 (edited) Can the P.E staff not just write them down? That's what they do here.. Or would this be too much work for them? Our staff used to do that, then manually work out points etc. The point of the new system is that they can enter results as events happen and get instant winners/points etc. Our guys loved it. I guess that is what the OP is doing it for. I built ours 'cos it seemed like an obvious place IT could make their lives better which is pretty much what I'm there for! ;-) Edited June 17, 2008 by jcollings

dezt Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Excel here - enter results, works out points, gives form and year totals etc. Welcome to a copy if you want. Any chance of getting a copy of that here?
iatkinson Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Couple of worksheets I knocked up in excel, you'd have to tailor them to your own tutor groups but anyone's welcome to use them. Sports Day 07.zip 2
jcollings Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 (edited) Any chance of getting a copy of that here? Sure - it's attached. There's lots of hidden columns and things so points can be looked up. Also as male and female can compete in different events you need to enter males and females seperately -- I do this by just filtering on gender. I think next year I'll create seperate sheets for them. Also Y7&8 score on one system and Y9&10 on another. Give me a yell if you need any more help with it as it's all in my head and not documented.Sports Day 2008.zip Edited June 18, 2008 by jcollings 3
jcollings Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Just to say the sheet I uploaded yesterday had one or 2 errors in it. The link now has an amended version with the corrections made. Sorry
Domino Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Anyone using sharepoint can quite easily set up a web based version as we have. obviously this means no applications needed, less likelyhood of it being deleted/messed about with, etc Windows also have some application templates which are quite good Application Templates for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and one of these is a Sports League - could be adapted for you needs http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=F811D8C1-2C55-4960-8B59-25808DB5F793&displaylang=en Of course, this requires either WSS or MOSS to begin with - but I can really recommened it for schools anyway
dhockridge Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Hi, do you have the password so i can edit them? Thanks Dave
