mdrabble Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 Does anyone know if there is any documentation about limits on Teams for Office 365 A1 for Faculity/Students - if so can you point them out to me please. Cheers
mdrabble Posted March 26, 2020 Author Posted March 26, 2020 I have been told the limit is 4 users per video conference/chat - which I do not think is right, so I need to check. Thanks
PhilWessell Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 Here's a link to some official info on this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/limits-specifications-teams
mdrabble Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Tells me how many I can have in a chat but not how many can appear of video chat at the same time. Going to test with some staf and some dummy accounts later this morning.
mullet_man Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 You can't do a live event we've found, meetings are fine but not a live event. I wish they'd allow showing more than 4 people on screen at once, I've seen its in development but you would have thought with all what's going on they'd have bumped it up the queue, the amount of schools that have jumped head first into Teams these last few weeks. 1
mdrabble Posted March 27, 2020 Author Posted March 27, 2020 Just found some more info https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/more-than-4-windows-for-video-meetings/m-p/564988 Voting to show all people in video calls https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/17010055-show-video-for-all-people-in-video-meeting#%7Btoggle_previous_statuses So looks like SLT will do what they do best and tell people to do their own thing either on Zoom or Hangouts - shame Microsoft haven’t got round to sorting this yet!

What a live event?
themightymrp Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I thought it was something I was doing wrong with the live event part not working. Now I know. basically you can set up a live broadcast that any number of people can tune into. Our Head wanted to use it to do the weekly staff briefing but it wouldn't come on. I checked all the settings in Teams admin centre and it looked OK there. Guess our license just doesn't like it
themightymrp Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 I think its 100 when on the A1 license. Which almost covers enough people but not quite. I suppose we could always record it to Stream and push the link out after the fact?
FragglePete Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Looking at this page (https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/get-started-with-microsoft-teams-live-events-d077fec2-a058-483e-9ab5-1494afda578a) you need the following: An Office 365 Enterprise E1, E3, or E5 license or an Office 365 A3 or A5 license. But, I guess it is only the event organiser that needs the extra license which I suppose you could just switch on for a few months? Pete

You can but your mailboxes need to be on O365. We have had to start migrating our teachers mailboxes to O365 from on premise for this to appear.
mavhc Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 No one wants to get rid of you having Exchange installed faster than MS 1
kennysarmy Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Is it possible to do a Live Event on A1 and include the Q and A option in the Live Event? We're struggling to see how to action but perhaps it's a licence issue, we're on A1.
jthompson Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Is it possible to do a Live Event on A1 and include the Q and A option in the Live Event? We're struggling to see how to action but perhaps it's a licence issue, we're on A1. You can do live events (either from Teams or Stream) with Q&A on A1 currently but I believe that's just part of the current pandemic freebie. Once that ends you'll need A3 or A5 to do live events. The problem I found with a live event with Q&A alongside it is that you can get massive delays for some viewers, yet the text Q&A is pretty much instant. Testing it I was seeing a 20-30s delay between what was going into the camera and it appearing on a viewer's screen. Enough to completely derail any notion of live Q&A being all that useful for interaction with the presenter. Questions would be about stuff that happened half a minute ago.

Thanks, the teacher who tried it followed the instructions but had no option or button to turn on the Q&A aspect, any ideas?
jthompson Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Thanks, the teacher who tried it followed the instructions but had no option or button to turn on the Q&A aspect, any ideas? Hmm. I see the Q&A tickbox available when setting up a live event in Teams, under the heading "How will you produce your live event?". It's unticked by default so I have to opt in to have Q&A available for a particular event. I can't see anything in the admin center that governs that option at all. I should point out that we're not actively using Teams here, it's just stuff which I've been kicking the tyres on over recent weeks. I might be wrong about Q&A being available from Stream - that might just have been allowing comments, which is a different thing. 1

The circle is where he expects to see the missing options...
