Parent Community Site?

Hi Folks,

 

Do any of you use a site/system for parent community discussion?

 

Microsoft Teams has been suggested here, but I think it’s a particularly clunky system for this, plus there’s the issue of enabling and inviting guest users.

 

At the other end of the spectrum is something like Facebook and a group/page, which I’m sure will have been setup by parents for year groups anyway. That has the issue of not every parent having or even wanting a Facebook account, so won’t catch everyone (if you can ever catch anyone).

 

Any thoughts about what might work, or do you already use something?

Who the heck is going to moderate this site? It will be a full time and very difficult job.

 

They’re bad enough on social media . If they think they have the school’s attention it will be awful.

 

Also, there are all sorts of Safeguarding and Data Protection potential issues.

Have to agree

 

in theory a proper sensible discussion group about home schooling kids using what the school has set up - is exactly what is needed

 

and in some schools this may be possible

 

but not in ANY school I have ever worked in

 

(OK I have tended to work in diffuclt schools - YMMV - especially if you work in an Independant school!)
