Guest Guest Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 We're (hopefully) going to be overhauling several of our cabs over the holiday. We've currently got one of our cabs connected via 100Mbps fibre and we're looking to upgrade this. I've come across fs.com which seem to have very reasonably priced SFP and SFP+ compatible modules. Has anyone ever used them? Are the modules any good? Any help is greatly appreciated
FragglePete Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 We've always got ours from https://gbics.com/ - have quite a few in use and have been for several years without any issues. Pete
pete Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 We've got some FS.com and 10Gtek modules and both brands perform without issues.
synaesthesia Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Yeah fs.com have been great for us, never had a dud and far better than forking out £howmuchyoumustbejoking for a branded one.
localzuk Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 FS.com modules have worked fine for us too. Wouldn't pay full price for a HPE one ever again!
Guest Guest Posted March 26, 2020 Posted March 26, 2020 Thanks everyone. Thought it seemed to good to true
Alis_Klar Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 What is their policy if it doesn't work? Even refurbished HPE modules cost a bomb.
synaesthesia Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 What is their policy if it doesn't work? Even refurbished HPE modules cost a bomb. Same as anything - return for refund or replacement, not that I've ever had that.
Davit2005 Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 I've had various 10Gtek SFPs and DAC cables running at home for almost 2 years, no problems.
supportman Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Unify do a 20 pack for a ridiculously low price, we bought both 1gbit and 10gbit modules. https://www.4gon.co.uk/ubiquiti-ufiber-ufmm10g20-sfpsfp-20-pack-10-pairs-p-7817.html
CAWJames Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 We use fs.com for GBIC's SFP and SFP+ and DAC cables, never had a incompatibility issue, why pay hundreds, when you can pay penny's on the pound!! Just note which warehouse they are shipping from, due to taxes and shipping times. Much like Hobbyking, if anyone is into RC/drones
fiza Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 What is their policy if it doesn't work? Even refurbished HPE modules cost a bomb.We have used FS.com for a couple of years. Only ever had 1 SFP+ Gbic fail and it was an easy return and replacement.
slugshead Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 Having recently started migrating all uplinks to 10gig fs.com has been a really cost-effective way of doing it. They even reached out after a few small orders asking if they can have a copy of our network diagram to design a migration plan for us.. Gave them the details, switch models and fibre type/length and they came back to me with a realllllly reasonable cost to get everything to 10gig (80 switches)... The downside, the core needed a few extra pricey SFP+ modules, but that was expected...
