Jaan Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Do you have Sims installed along with the S drive mapped to your Inventry machines? Just wanted to know if your Invenry machines pull info from Sims or if it's synced from your Sims server to the Inventry machine. (Using a app or some other mechanism on your Sims Server). We have two Inventry machines here. One "Server" and one "Clent", both running Windows 7. The server has Sims installed and seems to sync or pull info from Sims using dedicated credentials. We're looking to have the system updated (bigger HDDs and Windows 10 amongst other things). Just curious how people have it set up. ta
markwilfan Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 No need for the S Drive as it should do the SIMS query through Business Objects.
markwilfan Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Actually thinking about it I think there is a client on the SIMS server. I try not to have too much to do with Inventry as it used to be the bain of IT's lives
MYK-IT Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 We had 2 options during our installation: 1) SIMS installed on the InVentry Touchscreen itself, or 2) "InVentry SIMS Connect API" service on the SIMS server We took the second option. 2

Excellent, we'll do this. Does the Inventry machine have Sims installed at all? mapped S: ? or nothing from capita lol

cullingsh Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 On the first Inventry system we had, we install SIMS on to it (no mapped S drive, not needed). No problems with it since. On the second, the SIMS Connect API was installed. This server now gives us problems every time there is a SIMS upgrade to do and we have to shutdown the API service before installing any updates. The others we have insisted that SIMS is installed on the units and haven't had any issues with them.
bobsmith Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 API only - it's pretty easy and means we don't have to mess around with the inventry PCs at all.
