Much safer in some scenarios. Hopefully if it’s not available it could be on Microsoft radar to implement soon!!

I've spent too much time on Teams over the last week, and suspect that if none of us have found it, it's not possible. I think what you're describing is basically a live event, and for that you need A3 licensing.

Disabling 'IP Video' in the meeting policy for the Student and allowing it for a Teacher, allows a Teacher to start a meeting and no student can broadcast Video. When you hover over the Video option it says 'Disabled by your Administrator.' I can't see any option to disallow broadcasting audio though. Not sure if this is something that can be done in Powershell? Currently I have it setup as follows: Students: Disabled Calling, Private Chats/Messaging, Disabled 'Meet now', Memes/GIFs etc. Can't create their own teams and can't broadcast video. Teachers: Disabled chat, Can create own teams and can broadcast video. What would finish it off is: - Disabling audio broadcast for students. - Automatically assign student as an attendee and not be able to control. (Can be done when scheduling a meeting by a teacher, but not with 'Meet now') It's a shame that there's only a few things stopping us from using it effectively... Annoyingly in some of the Skype Powershell modules there is AllowIPVideo and AllowIPAudio, but in Set-CsTeamsMeetingPolicy there's only AllowIPVideo Edited March 15, 2020 by SteveM555 1

supportman Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 I may be missing something, but... If a teacher uses 'Meet Now' - all participants are automatically connected with Video/Audio? Is there way of disabling this so that only the presenter can broadcast the audio/video? I've set a test pupil the 'Secondary Education' policy and a test teacher account the 'Education (Teacher)' default policy and 'Disable IP Video' on the student, it either isn't working or hasn't applied yet I literally answered that in the video post above yours hehe

You can only host a meeting now which doesn’t allow this option to be set. Hence why so many people are having the issue.

From the team I set up I just click the video call button, and there's an option to schedule a video call instead of starting one right now.

forkies Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Nope, don't have that option. I spoke with MS and they said I have to have A3 or A5 licenses to do this. They said it is "Host meetings for up to 10,000 people with Microsoft Teams live events" part of the license comparison. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/academic/compare-office-365-education-plans Not sure how you have this if you don't have A3 or A5 licensing or on a trial of one of these.

Or the last time they logged into Teams for that matter? We are trying to work out if we can see who is online when we get sent home, it would be good if this could be exported to Excel!?
mullet_man Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Just a thought, but for anyone that hasn't blown through it yet (I have.. ) you can get a 30 day trial of 25 licenses for Microsoft 365 A5 for Faculty in the admin centre -> Billing -> Purchase Services. Maybe something to keep up your sleeve if SHTF and the free licenses aren't cutting it. Another for A3 too, so that could cover you for at least two months (and my trial of A5 could be extended for a further 30 days, so it could be the same with A3). How do I sign up our headteacher for A3 trial? Is it easy?

mavhc Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 On another note, I'm trying to enable restricted guest access. I've added myself as a Guest Inviter Role, in Azure Active Directory admin center. And in Users>user settings>external, I've set admin and users in the guest inter role can invite. And Allow invitations to be sent to any domain. In teams admin center, org-wide, guest access I have allow guest access in Teams on. In MS365 admin center, settings, settings, groups, both things are ticked. In settings, settings, sharing I've not ticked Let Users add guests, as it says that's the same as Members can Invite, which I don't want. Can't tell if it's just really slow at enabling or the settings conflict, been at least 18 hours now

forkies Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Done a load of testing and seems you need a O365 mailbox enabled for the user to be able schedule meetings, despite having hybrid setup this is now working for me until I migrate a user to O365. Not sure if this is the same for others having issues with the missing schedule a meeting option. Looks like it is time for me to migrate my staff to O365 mailboxes instead of the current on-site exchange.

Not sure if you sorted it, but it's in the admin centre (http://admin.microsoft.com) then on the left menu "billing" then "purchase services" if you search for trial it should show up. Just choose to start the trial, then go to "users" then "active users" in the left hand menu, click on the head, and in the pop-out info pane, click "Licenses and apps" and tick the new licenses.

So might be best to run it week by week.
