Mass Monitor Report

Admin has asked me to compile a full report of all the monitors & screens we have on site, including individual specs and serial numbers. We have around 400 machines.

 

Physically going to each monitor and checking the spec & serial number will take ages. Does anybody know of a way to do this remotely?

 

Is there maybe a power shell command that shows the details of the attached monitor?

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Not all monitors are capable of relaying this information, and likewise Windows in many cases is quite likely to be using Plug and Play generic drivers. I'd say you're more than likely going to be better off getting a good pair of walking shoes I'm afraid!

We use OCS Inventory NG (feeding into GLPI) to collect this stuff automatically, but as already mentioned, some will just be reported as generic devices with no serial numbers.

 

If your monitors have barcoded serial labels, the "Barcode Scanner" Android app from ZXing Team is nice and configurable and can collect a room full of scans as txt for you.

Lansweeper used to be good at finding monitor info as well from the connected machine (not free tool however but a great inventory one)
