We have a TV in the main reception of our business. I would like to display any key events we have coming up or any important information. I would also like to display the BBC news live.

Is there any free software that is user friendly that could do all this?

Getting the live feed of BBC News might be a bit fiddly as I expect you'd need to get through an iPlayer sign-in page to do it.

An alternative there is to purchase something like this and attach it to your LAN - https://www.silicondust.com/product/hdhomerun-duo/. You can then stream any FreeView channel from it as a bog standard RTSP stream, which I'm sure you could include within a XIBO layout.

Thanks!. I've been looking fof something similar to this for ages myself. They were either too complicated, too expensive, didn't work as promised looking at reviews etc. We had BBC News working through iPlayer via Xibo at one point years ago, but they changed something and we couldn't get it to work properly again. If the RSTP stream works that would be ideal.

Slight correction, if you have an HDHomeRun and point a web browser to it, you'll get a channel list with a URL for each. The URLs aren't RTSP but HTTP. They can be opened as a network stream in VLC.

Ideally I'd go chromebox/stick but free wise, potentially create a slide and just navigate the TV to the url of that slide.

VLC can to, but been years since I've done it
