need a new MIS system

Hi All

 

we are looking to move away from our current MIS system "KSM" one of the main requirements is giving the parent the ability to select and amend the days they want their children to attend the nursery rather than have them call the admin office or use an online form, once a parent makes the changes for their child days the admin simply approves them individually or in bulk, another main requirement is parents paying via the app or web and that automatically updates the MIS rather than transfer the money directly to our account then admin makes note of that then finance sees the transactions and a ton of manual work.

 

sofar I was exploring famly.co but it seems it lacks that functionality and parents will still need to call the office, also looked into isams but didn't see this functionality as an option either i could be wrong though,

 

any suggestions would be much appreciated!

You have a huge problem with nursery sessions. They’re not regular and they’re a pain in the backside.

@Jollity may know what’s around at the moment. He and I have worked together tearing our hair out over this. The best answer we got at one conference of independent schools was “well, we have got this spreadsheet...”

 

I haven’t worked in this sector for a few years so am not sure what is current.

I looked into this a few years ago, and did not find any school MISes that would handle nursery sessions properly. The proper solution I thought was to get a dedicated nursery package and then link it to the MIS. We were looking at Connect Childcare I think. However this all ended up too expensive and time consuming and we ended up using a spreadsheet with macros.

 

I have not researched this recently so better solutions may have emerged.

 

Most recently I have set up to do this with a homemade system again with powershell scripts to go from bookings on parent portal, to register spreadsheet on onedrive, then imported back to the MIS for billing. The exact requirements seemed too unique to fit any pre-made system.
