bewlay51 Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Hi all, I am trying to setup FMS so I can email suppliers a copy of the Purchase Order direct from FMS. The problem is I'm can't seems to be able to setup Office 365 as a mail forwarder. Our support company has email Capita asking if they know how it's done, but no replay after almost 3 weeks. This is the message send to Captia.... We are using Office 365 and a mail forwarder. The problem seems to be the encryption type- Office 365 requires TLS setting and there doesn't appear to be an option to set this, although I can set the correct port number of 587. We know that the SMTP server does work because we have setup PaperCut to scan to email, the difference being PaperCut allow use to set the correct encryption type to TLS. Many thanks... John
localzuk Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 The only way we got this to work was to set up a mail relay on-site. We used a postfix server to do this. 1
pacapps Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 I believe I got this working before Christmas. I had to login as sysman and enter the settings (other users could not save the data). Below should be a screenshot of the settings we use. HTH 1
bewlay51 Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 Many thanks for all your help - I will give the second option ago, I didn't know O365 can use port 25. Let me see if that works when I'm back in the school tomorrow.
dapaulio Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) I’m sure I resolved this for a school a no longer have any affiliation with. they used fms and remember thinking it wasn’t straight forward. if memory serves me I think you need to use another port. To complicate matters my initial thought is port 443 however I have a niggle in my head that it wasn’t that obvious and another port was used but right now I may be thinking of and confusing myself with another software Food for thought and if I suddenly have a brain wave I’ll be sure to post. I still have contact in the finance dept at my previous school so may check in see how they are. Edited January 6, 2020 by dapaulio
dapaulio Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 (edited) With a bit of digging a found some information which jogged my memory I used TLS port 587. With a bit of reverse diagnosing I found this page which may help. Only some of it is relevant. You would probably disable start tls encryption also Is it a hybrid or full office 365? https://www.fmsinc.com/MicrosoftAccess/Email/smtp/index.htm Edited January 6, 2020 by dapaulio
bewlay51 Posted January 7, 2020 Author Posted January 7, 2020 pacapps solution has tested ok, and I received a test email. But you are right - I can't save the setting because I'm not logged in as "sysman", so I need to find out the login detail. Many thanks for your help.
