We're considering switching our paper-based sign in/out process for Sixth Formers to something which uses their RFID badges. There are various positive reasons for this, but I'm also mindful of the potential problems if students don't use it fully as it could record students as present when they're actually absent, and vice-versa (that said, the current paper system has that issue too). Does anyone have any product recommendations and/or experience of using these systems?

Im looking at signing in app at the moment for a different reason but i have found signinapp.com £300 a year is pretty dam good! You can purchase a RFID reader and ipad with a printer for £1000 for the first year.

Inventry with a link to your MIS would work. You can get some small readers at doors on entry/exit routes rather than full screen unit designate them to signing in and out, also registers to your MIS.

+1 for Sign In App, we have the RFID reader add-on and all works great! Synced with our MIS too.

Just out of curiosity, When there is a fire do you use it for the fire evacuation and if so do you remove the ipad from the case or how do you do it?

InventryEvac does a print of all the signed-in users. But you have to wait for the printer to print them all, which I think it is a bit daft. The iPad thing was never taken off the drawing board for us.

We use a mix of Sign in App, for visitors and some staff, and then paper register too. For people signed in through Sign In App, they have a companion app that can go on any phone who you give access and they can access a live fire register from there, so no need to take the iPad.
