That's why I'm of the opinion that Jo Martin's Doctor comes between classic 2 and 3. Tardis is a Police Box, internals look similar to that era & there's a regeneration gap here that could easily be explained by a hidden regeneration.

 

Didn't he had a choice of regeneration in The War Games though? Which had his face spinning around and look like 3 during part... and stumble out the Tarids on Earth as 3... if memory serves.

 

I thought the only regeneration that I thought we didn't officially get was War Doctor to 9... but apparently the eye brow starts to look like 9's.

You never explicitly see the regeneration and it looks like the whole season 6b thing was adopted by the bbc as fact rather than fan theory nearly 10 years ago.

There's plenty of space in there for some additional black ops and a mind wipe before dumping The Doctor back on earth as 3 but wearing the clothes of 2.

Assuming that the first Doctor (on the telly) was not the first generation then there is nothing to say that the Tardis had never been a Police Box before that

Maybe it got locked into that shape when it went wrong because it was a shape that it had used for a long period of time before that??

My suspicion is that it will be Jack who rescues The Doctor using his little Vortex Manipulator (which she'll promptly disable again).

I really hope River's stays out of this. Her story is complete now, they ended it so perfectly and her next destination is the Library where it pretty much ends for her timeline

There's not a lot of room for more stories here.

 

Perhaps they could add a hidden regeneration. But I think it would be messing with the story for the story's sake.

River was always Steven Moffat's character and it was his storyline from the library through all the other episodes she featured in.

He's written a conclusion that he's happy with and I'm not sure Chibnal would change that without first getting his blessing.
