Katy Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 I'll post up a map later of where you can park easily (and for free) if you are coming by car. Presumably they sell alcohol? There's the deciding factor in car v no-car for me 😂
DJ-1701 Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 Presumably they sell alcohol? There's the deciding factor in car v no-car for me 😂 No, they sell pet products, hence the dog discussion.
mikeprice Posted December 10, 2019 Posted December 10, 2019 I'm coming by train - not sure of the route - probably via Warrington
Dos_Box Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 (edited) Please find below a map of suitable i.e. free, on-street parking for Saturdays meal. I'm not 100% sure if the Maudland Bank parking is availble during the day (there may be parking restrictions), but parking opposite St Walburghs is a guarenteed space (watch out for peregrines!) and only a couple of mins walk to The Ferret. DJ-1701 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Presumably they sell alcohol? There's the deciding factor in car v no-car for me 😂 1pm a bit early for drinking isn't it? Or is that how it's done up there... next you will be telling me you are off for a pub crawl.
StevieM Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 1pm a bit early for drinking isn't it? There's something civilised about an afternoon pint, especially of a weekend. next you will be telling me you are off for a pub crawl. I don't know about anyone else*, but I certainly will be! So, just to confirm, it's The Ferret for lunch and The Otter for tea, with a few other stops along the way. It seems a bit of a waste visiting a town and not sampling its hospitality. (*anyone else is welcome to join me.) 1

Dos_Box Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 24 Hours to go. You will be mine once more, oh yes, you will be! 1
StevieM Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 While the whole menu looks delicious, there's nothing that seems to be compatible with my fullsome beard/moustache combo. I'll bring a brush and hope that The Otter will provide an ample supply of moist towe... wet wipes! I'm so glad I checked for any hidden meanings before posting my original turn of phrase!!

StevieM Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I say just throw caution to the wind and go for it! Oh, I very much intend to! All being well, my train should get into Preston about 12.35. I won't have any EEDs* with me so, in the event of a delay/missed train etc., I won't be able to let you know, so just start without me! *Edugeek Enabled Devices 1
