maxrebo Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Hi, We need to update our Net2 Lite Server install from v4 to v6, as we don`t have any direct support for this from Net2 we`re tasked with doing it ourselves, has anyone done this recently?, is it possible to upgrade direct to v6 from v4? any issues encountered? Thanks
Jcx500 Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Just make a export of the database i guess and import it into a new install of net2
TechMonkey Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Only done the Pro versions and generally it is just run the install on the server, then upgrade the clients. We have normally done smaller jumps than that but from my recollection nothing major changed. Take a VM snapshot and go for it. Whats the worst that could happen?
bald_pig Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 Have you registered with Paxton in order to download the net2 software?
maxrebo Posted November 13, 2019 Author Posted November 13, 2019 Thanks. Yeah Backups will be taken. It wont be me doing it as I`m on annual leave so I was just planning ahead to see if we would be falling at the first hurdle! - - - Updated - - - Have you registered with Paxton in order to download the net2 software? Through a Re seller yes
fordea Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 We did our upgrade over the summer and it went smoothly. The only hiccup we had was after we'd updated to v6 that some of our doors were exhibiting behaviours such as not accepting valid tokens and not adhering to the timezone unlock policies. This was sorted by reinstating those doors in Paxton Net2. I believe reinstating the doors causes the server to push the database information down to the door's ACU so it's worth giving that a try if any of your doors misbehave after the upgrade.

Rochdale_Cowboy Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I went from v5 to v6 over summer as v5 doesn't support Win10 clients with the Paxton USB card reader we have. Backed up the DB and ran the upgrade over the top. It all went extremely smoothly and is working well.
snagrat Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 Is there a way to download the v6 software without a login? My installer is not getting back to me about downloading it for me.

Same problem here - after an upgrade i was changing timezones to open gates, this would be ok, but then when i removed the settings, gates would still open! Paxton told me it is always best to do a reinstate after any changes even if the server and controller are always online! I think they should built it into the save process that it auto pushes the settings to the controller after a change, shouldnt need to reinstate!
ITGURU Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 I'll take your word its legit Thanks Definitely legit - the link used to be publicly available on their website , but the page got removed and left the link working with the latest updates which is where i get them from.
stevenlong1985 Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 from what I remember, support for the lite version was free, Just give them a call. I rang them a couple of years ago for some help and they helped me migrate to v6

bald_pig Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 Could anyone tell me how to re instate the doors?(Before I call Paxton) Should just be a case of going onto the doors section of net2 and pressing reinstate?
