For those of you already using a projector and a laptop to display a clock + exam info it's a really useful replacement.

For those of you already using a projector and a laptop to display a clock + exam info it's a really useful replacement.

 

Does a clock in an exam really need to be run off a projector? What happens if the power fails mid-exam? Doesn't matter at all on an battery powered clock. Internet connection drops for exams info?

I'm genuinely tempted to block this site, just to avoid being asked to set a projector up for it.. Whats wrong with a clock!!

Exams for us are in a huge hall, and it's difficult to make clocks visible to all. Ultimately the Exams Officer's decision anyway, and I thought the site was a great idea.

 

Just trying to be helpful, for those who are interested anyway.

We've used this for a while now.

 

Supposedly some kids struggle to read analog clocks....

@mavhc we are talking about exams so no phones in pockets, on desks or hidden anywhere else they shouldn’t be....

 

We also use a large hall so use a projector as a clock. Should the power fail mid exam they will all be sat in pitch darkness as no external windows so projector going off isn’t an issue. We use ppt with a plugin (not open source though) that does real-time clocks, cost us about £5 all-in 6 years ago. Passes external exam board moderation visits every year so must be ok....

I always used to use a watch, but they're banned now as well. Don't know if it's school specific, but our local secondary took the (not unreasonable) decision that they didn't want to have to check everyone's watch to see if it was smart or not.

 

Projected image makes sense to me - most school halls just have a normal clock which isn't ready to read as it's too small.
