MoviePlus Unlock Server gone

Although MoviePlus is discontinued we are still using it here. We recently upgraded to Windows 10 and have come across the issue where MoviePlus needs to connect to the Automatic Unlock Server. Obviously Serif have shut this server down so the option no longer works. Has anyone come across this issue and if so how did you resolve it.

I have asked the Teachers to look for alternatives but so far we are still using MoviePlus.

I had this issue last year, and all I done was phone serif and said about the situation. To which the guy on the other end of the line said no problem and sent me all the relevant registrations codes I need for my full serif suite of packages.

I have movieplus x5 and you can unlock it via a reg key.

 

edit: This was for the x264 features thinking on it. The software ran fine otherwise.

I was pointed at this thread last night and it'll be a lifesaver for our Media staff. The error happens when you try to import files encoded a certain way (MP4 files, although I know that's just a container for the actual codec). The website the error links to made it sound very final about how it wouldn't be workable again! I'd be very interested in getting it going again.

 

I don't suppose anyone could share these reg files, since Serif are giving them out anyway, and save me a phonecall or email...?

We experienced this at the start of term (MoviePlus X6 DE) and Serif said they do not provide unlock codes anymore as their licensing agreements don't allow them to. I resolved this by pulling the keys out of the registry and then deploying that via GPO.

 

The keys should be located here:

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Serif\MoviePlus\8.1\Registration\Features

 

After exporting them all, I then made a GPO that created them and this resolved the issue for our recently imaged computers

It would, but we did a full site rebuild during the Summer before this issue came to light (or perhaps causing it!).

Yup, just had an email back from them with the reg codes attached to it.

The team at serif have sent me the codes which I have tried to enter manually to no avail. Urgently trying to unlock MPEG 4 capabilities to export a video for new starters in September (deadline Friday), otherwise I'm left with windows movie maker! Need to unlock 8, High Def H.264, 13 .mp4 file output and 15 AAC encoding?)

I've just contacted Serif and they do not supply these codes any more. Can anyone here help at all?

I've seen the messages that downloading the codec is no longer supported so I'm guessing that there isn't a 'proper' way to get hold of this now?

 

Just wondering if it might be possible to purchase the codec and install - would Movie Plus then recognise it? - apologies in advance - I'm not very Gen'd up on video codecs.

 

I'm a retired teacher and have been asked to do a little 'helping out' with this particular package and some MP4 videos. Another option might be to convert the videos first into a format that Serif can accept .... I wonder what format that would be? (trial and error I guess)
