Recommendations for A3 & A4 Colour Laser MFP for Home office use

Hello,

 

I am looking for A3 and A4 colour laser MFP recommendations. This will be for home/ office use. It should be economical in term of toner replacement.

What do you by “economical in terms of toner replacement”?

 

Cheap toner cartridges or number of pages per cartridge?

 

I think all original toner is expensive, but for home use it lasts a long time

 

I have a desktop HP Colour A4 Laser which is excellent. I picked it for its small footprint. It’s 9 years old now and just had its first drum replacement. I have been using compatible toner for many years

An A3 laser MFP for home use?! They’re usually massive, and expensive - bear in mind that’s effectively what many of us lease for several thousand pounds a year with copiers.

 

Can you split those requirements into two machines?

For example - how often do you need colour

 

I ended up with a B&W printer/scanner because I so seldom need colour and inkjets dry up so often

 

if you only need colour once every few months then you would be better off paying for those few sheets and putting up with only B&W the rest of the time

 

and scanning is always colour anyway

Sharp have just launched their smallest A3 colour MFD in a 20 and 25 page per minute range. It is the BP-20C25 or BP20C20.

 

The brochure can be found here. It's 560mm square, not bad for a desktop A3 device.

Other option would be something like a HP PageWide Pro MFP 777z but it's inkjet technology.

I double-installed my colour laser. One is setup as Mono and the other as Colour with mono as the default. Only the black toner gets used for printing mono which improves the economy (we all know that all the colours are used to print black otherwise). I did this with the printers in school too.
