Dos_Box Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 This is beginning to look really nice. This is a half hour vid by a UK flight sim enthusiast who was invited by Microsoft to a preview in the US (along with journalists and others in the field) and has made this half hour vid. And let's face it, everyone will be flying over their own house!
bald_pig Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 I spied the Excel in the footage! I wasn't too excited for this, but the visuals look stunning!
supportman Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Looks absolutely amazing! There is something about travelling in real time over a landscape you find familiar. They could be onto a real winner with this one.

Sonic007 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 This looks great. I wonder what super specs youll need for smooth gameplay though.
crc-ict Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 This looks great. I wonder what super specs youll need for smooth gameplay though. As I understand it, all the scenery graphics will be streamed in real-time from the internet. So 1Gbps internet connection should just about do it! 1
chazzy2501 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 (edited) I haven't played a flight sim since my Amiga 600 and my mates Atari STFM, F117a stealth bomber! I had something impossible on the C64 as well. This make me want to buy a joystick and an ultrawide screen monitor. EDIt: yeap, I've decided this one: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/philips-499p9h-00-49-5120x1440-va-5k2k-60hz-lcd-superwide-curved-monitor-mo-02j-ph.html Edited October 10, 2019 by chazzy2501 1

TechMonkey Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I wouldn't like to guarantee but I'm sure I saw somewhere that it would be on GamePass. If so I will be a very happy guy!

Dos_Box Posted August 21, 2020 Author Posted August 21, 2020 (edited) A bit of 'can I run it here'. I have an RX 580 (8GB) and to do anything above medium settings will require some upgrades I think. I do wish they'd used a mid-range CPU to do the testing here as using a Ryzen 3950X doesn't give the average punter a good idea if there much lower spec CPU will be able to handle it. I can see why Microsoft has gone for a hefty spec for resonable play on this tough as the lifespan of the product will be at least a deade or so, given the longevity of previous versions of FS and the average home hardware will catch this up in a few years time and will be positivly epic to run it on after almost 10. The video shows that the game was capped to 4 cores, most of that 3950X was idle!

Dos_Box Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 It seems the hardware reviews are out and most are saying the more monster the rig the better (well, obviously), but as I had mentioned earlier, they (Microsoft) are in this for the long game once more and FS 2020 and technology will catch up and make FS 2020 much easier for many to use on ultra settings. This makes for good reading, however I would have liked them to have tested at the other settings too given the vast range of cards they tested on - https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/microsoft-flight-simulator-(2020)-pc-graphics-performance-benchmark-review.html Not much hope for my 8GB RX 580 I hope Star Wars Squadrons is kinder!

You can run at medium?
aicrd Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Apparently the RTX 2080 ti only gets around 30FPS on max settings at 4K. Honestly though I don't think FPS matters that much in a flight sim as you don't have much going on that requires it. 30 is probably plenty.
Dos_Box Posted August 24, 2020 Author Posted August 24, 2020 You can run at medium? Wash your filthy mouth out!
bald_pig Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Wash your filthy mouth out! You can wait for RTX3000 like the rest of us!
