CleverShare - Screen Sharing across subnets

We've just opened a new school and they've bought some fancy Clevertouch screens which have CleverShare screen sharing technology built in. They've also bought some fancy-pants Windows tablets.

 

The issue is that the tablets are connected to the wireless network on one VLAN and the Android computers built into the boards are connected to the wired network in another. This means that unless they dock the tablet and connect it to the wired VLAN, they can't connect to the screen but being as the dock is connected to the screen by HDMI, there's not a lot of point in that.

 

Bar connecting the Clevertouch boards to the wireless, is there a way to route the discovery broadcast from the Clevertouch boards to a different network segment? As far as I can tell, they're not using Zeroconf/Bonjour to transmit and running Wireshark on a machine in the same segment, I can't see any broadcasts on the port that their documentation says it uses.

i usually just change the port on the switch to the wifi vlan in these cases.

 

our aruba wifi can rebroadcast the bonour/etc to the other subnets but if found it to be a bit flakey

Norphy - Thanks for raising this, sorry i did not get notified of this mention. Clevershare V1.08XX can communicate over multiple subnets - can you make sure that both the Server on the Android is updated to the latest version and the same with the Client side app. If you can then switch to advanced code mode (on both), and try again?

 

If not we may need to make sure that ports are not blocked etc, but let me know how you get on and we can go from there.

The CleverShare MSI that I found on your site is for 1.05something. I don't really want to be visiting every machine and installing this thing manually, is there an updated MSI available yet?

I been trying this as well, but we keep having problems. We are using meraki, and have both sender and receiver updated. Do i need to set up mdns on both networks or bonjour forewarding? We opened the tcp ports mentioned in clevertouched network requiments pdf.

 

Do you have a overview for what needs to for this to work?

Sorry to revive this thread - currently looking at Clevershare as an option for some students who require access to the boards via. iPads, but only to view and not to edit the content on the clevertouch board. @Norphy did you get this working in the end across subnets & VLANs?

I'm sorry, I've been out of education for the last two and a half years and I honestly don't remember for sure. I think that when we updated to whatever the current version was back then, we could do what we needed but this is three jobs and four years ago now

Good point, that would be the easiest way to get it sorted to be fair - At the moment I believe ours are on different subnets (and definitely different VLANs) but hopefully can allow them to communicate with eachother for this purpose.
