Hi,

got a touch screen with no freeze screen option

PC VGA output goes via a splitter box: one to monitor, one to touchscreen.

Is there any way I can get a freeze screen just on touchscreen whilst teacher works on PC ?

She's on windows 10, we tried extend which creates a new screen you can drag stuff to but it

is not visible on PC.

we had some Epson projectors that did not have that freeze function on the remote, I found out from tech support that they sold a compatible remote that had the freeze on it.

What I'm saying is email the makers of the touch screen and ask them.

Need a 2nd monitor really, set it to extended, and have the splitter only on the 2nd screen.

Impossible to search for a device to freeze the screen, just comes up with results for crashing. If it were me I'd configure "Use prtscn button to open screen snipping", press PrtScn, click full screen capture, click the alert that pops up, win+p to extend screens, and win+right cursor twice, then win+up cursor.

Or just spin around in my chair to see the screen.

perhaps speak to the vendors tech support, whilst BenQ have had freeze/blank for many years, when we introduced the function in 2013 it was a firmware update, so maybe it's possible they can help you.

thanks will try contact the vendor.

mavhc: take it your "snipping" solution needs the 2nd monitor? Never had a 2 monitor setup, just looking at pc, it has one VGA and one DVI out.

Is it just a matter of connecting 2nd monitor to DVI ? All our old monitors are VGA so maybe I can use a DVI to VGA adapter.

I've tried in a couple of rooms...

1x TFT connected via Displayport-DVI cable to the PC

PC VGA output to VGA splitter, to 1x TFT and 1x projector

Total of 2x screens, 1x teacher and 1x classroom.

Used what I already had to hand and lying around, reused old kit and only thing was to order the Displayport-DVI cables for about a fiver each.

Mixed feedback from staff, some love it and some don't. The Smartboards and screens play up in this config though so it's in the R&D stages as we all know staff don't like change. But they're willing to moan about the TV not having any freeze function (well I didn't buy it).

Well, 2nd output from the computer, which is connected to the monitor. It would solve the freezing problem if you didn't have a clone of the projector on a 2nd monitor, and mostly wanted to work with both displays cloned. It would be a PITA and confuse most people though.

Don't forget about USB monitors/usb2screen devices, if you have USB 3 and a not terrible cpu, and your desktop doesn't have a 2nd monitor output.

Thanks for the ingenious suggestions,

as luck would have it the vendor got back to me: its the "blue" button to freeze !

Guess it makes sense, blue, cold, freeze ?

Anyway how embarrassing, I swear I sat there for 10 minutes while I pressed every button

on the remote several times :o
