If I could afford the drop in pay and move house, I'd be tempted just to have easy access to the many walks around the Lakes :)

But I can't :(

Cumbria CC's single status job profile for a Network Manager states that they are to be paid at the SO1 grade.

That's what I thought you meant. Odd really as I work in South Lakes and am on a higher scale as is at least one other NM in South Lakes that I know of.

Legally, it is completely upto the head teacher in the school as to what people get paid for support tasks. The single status is just a set of guidelines. That said, not many schools will ignore them.

Yep. The council cant tell any school how much they pay their staff.

Hmmm looks not a bad job or place from what I can see may apply for that myself

Ulverston is a lovely place and colleagues tell me it's a good school. Would be tempted myself if the money was better.

Yeah looking around looks ok, the schools in Special Measures from waht I can gather from the website but if there working hard to get out of it thats all good stuff and I guess as the new guy in there you;d be expected to help them get out of it and assist them get out of them so I'd hope for support if you can prove it will improve T&L your changes etc. Only thing thats a bit unusual (Read ive never come across) in the JD is they have a Strategic Director of New Technologies sounds a bit of a funny role to me but it may work well for them and so long as there on the same wavelength as the Network Manager that will be ok otherwise that could cause a bit of friction I suspect but its all good :)

I think it's fair to say they've had a rough time but things are improving. Our head is helping out and as you observe my understanding is things are changing. Schools do seem to have some interesting post titles for sure. I wouldn't worry too much about it as it's something you could thrash out at interview. As I said as a place to live I think Ulverston is pretty good. I get out that way a fair bit and if I didn't have a son near Manchester so need to be near the M6 I'd live there. Mind you Kendal is pretty good to!

Cheers Jarrod sounds a good one I'll fill the forms in over the weekend I think for it worth a punt :) As for the location I'll commute to it, I'm only about 40 miles from it so its not that bad really, Kendal is much closer to me though, when I was learning to drive went to Kendal many times as I did the test in Kendal (curses one way system and Parker and Parker Porsche dealer due to shiny distractions :D) hehe

Good luck John. Got to be worth a shot. I pass Parker and Parker everyday to and from work - ah well maybe one day!! The one way system is still awful. Took a colleague 25 mins to go 1 mile from their school to ours yesterday!

Got the forms here to fill in, they will be filled in and returned over the bank holiday weekend :)
