Backup SIMS SQL plus other Files to Google Drive using Education unlimited storage

Hello,

 

I was wondering if anyone is currently backing SIMS, network drives etc to Google drive taking advantage of the unlimited education storage?

 

If so, what are you using? I looked at Cloudberry but they appear to have stopped this now for some reason. Using Google drive as a backup solution, is this breaking any T&C? After watching Linus video it doesn't appear to be?

No harm doing so, but why so?

Because it is a copy of a lot of sensitive personal data and needs to be protected. Anytime you change how you are handling data you should consider whether performing a DPIA is required. Changing where you have copies of your MIS, and changing your DR plan for your MIS are two activities that I believe should have a DPIA completed. Hence require the involvement of the DPO.

Makes sense. In fact, any backup solution contain personal data ought to have had a DPIA completed.
