Would a 'PDA, UMPC and Phones' forum be of use?

It seems that we are getting more and more posts about these with nowhere to put them specificly.

Whilst we're on the subject, how about an 'XP SP3 forum? Perhaps as a subforum of the windows forum?

I'm kinda thinking a printer forum might actually be a little more up on the scale than a phone one. Not that I'm biased in any way shape or form... Honest!

 

That said, we could be in danger of over-complicating the structure and giving mods more work by forcing them to move stuff around because people haven't found the correct forum and posted in say "hardware" instead.

This is where prefixing comes in. Using thread prefix's you can help make the threads contents more specific and users can search based on prefix.

I am not sure about the SP3 forum as prefixing may be better suited for it.

PDA forum will be coming soon and going to have a mull about a printers forum.

I think a PDA forum is a good idea, printer one would be good as well.

 

How about a Service Pack forum instead of just one for SP3, if MS bring out the same number of service packs for XP that they did for 2000 the place would just be a list of forums for service packs.

More widespread use of thread tagging would also help with searching for specific topics.

How about a 'Service Packs, Updates and Patches' forum? That way it's fairly vendor neutral and covers the subject a bit better?

I have been toying with a restructuring anyway, even put some ideas on paper but its not done yet.

The conflict is that should we have more forums or simplify things with more prefix's.

I like more forums generally as I then know if its relevant straight away when a new post appears but it can be too much diversity and none of the forums get posts.

It's a shame there's not a user preference to view prefixes as sub-forums.

Other IT Equipment (Such as Visualisers, IWBs,) But they may be covered under hardware so not sure about this one.

I like the PDA one, how bout a MIS Tag or Forum and something for non-educational software such as MS Office as thats not educational really its more real life / required.

yh phone/pda forums sounds gd...

 

but yh agree with Z maybe the pre-fixing should be used in most cases. but i dont disagree with an SP forum.

One prefix or forum change that would be useful is for "Wireless" vs' "Wired"... There's a lot more wireless stuff coming up nowadays so being able to delineate would be useful.
