Couple more moths, one just before I left for holiday, the second one on the outside wall in Cornwall. The first is a beauty and should be recognised as another example has been posted not so long ago in this thread. The second is less clear, and I haven't decided what it is yet.

Two of our hedgehog visitors are easily distinguishable both by their relative sizes and by the marks acquired by rubiing on something mucky.

With another camera we have been trying to work out what’s roosting in our sparrow terrace. The answer is probably tits, but we got a good fly past by bats for a couple of hours this morning.

We're now up to at least four. Two large, one small, and at least one medium. The medium trotted off in one direction, and either went all around the garden and reapeared from the other side (not at all impossible) or we have two medium.

We have around half a dozen regulars. They’re not all as easy to identify as individuals as these two

Interesting, I've not seen terraced bird boxes before. I wonder if the residents of the mid terrace aspire to move to the end, or even into a semi or detached next box. Do birds do social climbing?

I was cycling along a canal yesterday - a section with trees on both sides - I was on the towpath on the left

 

when a brown hawk swooped out of the trees on the right just in front of me

then flew slowly along the canal for about 50 yards before swooping back into the trees
