Ertech Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Restarted the VM to install windows updates and it has been saying "Getting Windows read Don't turn off you computer" for the last 30min Any suggestion why this may happen? Thanks
TwistedHelixis Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Server 2016 is a nighmare for updates. I would not start worrying for a good few hours, yes it takes that bloody long
TwistedHelixis Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Because its ****. If I had known I would have stuck with 2012r2 and then jumped to 2019
Ertech Posted July 2, 2019 Author Posted July 2, 2019 The server is up and running now - Microsoft needs to sort out the updates on Server 2016!
Oaktech Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 One of my 2016 boxes spent 3 hours on 'getting windows ready' before I got bored and bombed the VM out. It restarted straight away after that.
Arthur Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 But why does it take so long? See first comment from Karl W-E. below... windowsserver.uservoice.com/forums/295047-general-feedback/suggestions/32121229-stop-the-windows-update-madness-on-ws2016
