[windows software] Win 7 Upgrade to Win 10 - license for OS reinstallation?

I have a Dell Inspiron 5555 that I am looking at as the user is complaining it is slow.

 

The Dell support website says that it is supported and drivers are available for Win 10, so my advice was going to be an SSD and a fresh install of Win 10, but I *think* that they have done an upgrade from Win 7 Home and therefore have no installation media.

 

I can use the Media Creation Tool to make installation media for them, but my main question is how will the license validate?

 

There are no License stickers on the laptop.

 

Should I presume that the key is in the bios (or was that only from Win 8) and will automatically activate Win 10 once installed?

 

How do I check?

 

Is there anyway other way to find the key in the UEFI/bios (PM if answering this one please).

 

Which SSD should I recommend that is at a good price point vs. reliability?

In the settings app, search for "activation" it will tell you how the machine is activated.

 

As for SSD's, pretty much any brand name you recognise and trust should be fine!

In which case, they should just have to sign back in to their microsoft account after the reimage and they'll be good to go!
