chazzy2501 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 OK a bit late to the party, I've always wanted a 3d printer but it's always hard to know where to jump in. Always wanted a cool delta style printer and they're affordable now. So many build your own kits etc. every £50 gets you a better and better printer. (it's like building a PC) anyhow I've bought the AnyCubic Mega-S https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07JN7HFYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There may be better options (there always is) but it checked most boxes and I am fed up of being stuck with indecision. Anyhow anyone here got some cool first prints, I should try.
TechMonkey Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Looks nice. I'm the same with an added dash of no room to have a set up. Benchy is always popular, but maybe something small like a name plate for your door to start?
Davit2005 Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I'd be trying a Raspberry Pi 4 case . Should be small enough to fit on the table but maybe a bit advanced for first print.
chazzy2501 Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 I've used the xyz junior a few years ago, for a few days and that was cheap and affordable (even with locked down filament) A lot of prints would curl, (gluestick fixed that though) the old blue tape helped. I guess I'll start with a phone case again. Pi4b sounds cool, I was looking at the £35 model for a mame project. (I only want 8/16bit era stuff) I really want to try the old nut and bolt print just to see how well they mesh.

pete Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I really want to try the old nut and bolt print just to see how well they mesh. I usually start with the benchy (#3DBenchy – The jolly 3D printing torture-test) at a range of resolutions once I'm reasonably happy with calibration. That way I can scribble resolution and print time on the bow in permanent marker so I have a physical reference for print time vs finish quality.

CAM Posted June 28, 2019 Posted June 28, 2019 I have a friend who has been printing fancy vases and flower pots to begin with.
