Thing to Create AD Email/Gmail Groups for "Teachers of %student% / %class%"?

Hi all - that's going to be a very odd one to describe, but we previously used something called MIS2AD, which has become ropey and stopped working. I don't think you can download it any more.

What I'd ideally like to do is, probably with a .csv, export a list of teachers and students and classes from SIMS and have email groups created overnight for:

- Teachers of classes

- Teachers of each student

- Students in each class

These would ofc need to be AD groups with email addresses, and gmail *should* be able to create the groups and modify members itself. I'd also definitely want to be able to manually add teachers to groups, so I have the option to include other staff in emails and not have my automation bin them every night.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about and also any idea how to achieve this old garbage? :o

Lol, thanks anyone who's read this far!

We also use Salamander. I cannot praise it enough, given how much time and effort it has saved my department. It can manage both staff and students, provisioning AD users, Office 365 licenses (including mailboxes) and distribution groups based on classes and year groups. It does this dynamically, so as soon as something is changed in SIMS, it's modified in the next sync of Salamander. It also disable accounts/Office 365 should a student or member of staff leave and have an end date marked in SIMS's leaving date/employment section.

Salamander has become one of those systems that I forget about because it just does its job but I'd sure as hell notice it's absence should it go.

I used a SIMS report to do this and powershell.

We now have a group per student that contains all teachers of them, including ones where the class is split over different teachers.

Not bad for free.

Salamander all the way so they have the headache of supporting it when your own script doesnt work! Especially with all the changes that happen each year/month/week/day!
