DalekSec Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Just had a phone call from Schoolsbroadband who have taken over a contract we had with them, turns out they went into liquidation in February and this is the first we've heard! Had a quick search on here and didn't see it being mentioned so posting it to make people aware! https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/02/20/apples_reseller_pulls_down_the_shutters_calls_in_the_administrators/
Jamman960 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Their retail arm went into liquidation in February but they tried to keep the education department going, they finally had to close the education branch just before half term. We've received a few emails from one of the directors who is trying to sort things out for their customers.
RLR Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 We had them in for a visit a couple of months ago as we where in the process or swapping out 900 iPads. We had been using Solution Inc as one of our 3 quotes that we required. They didn't come in at the cheapest so we didn't go with them.
Arthur Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Not being an authorised ASE for education can't have helped matters either.

That thread is a couple years old so it may have changed: https://www.apple.com/uk/education/how-to-buy/solution-experts/ List on website: Western Computer Group Ltd Academia Limited Toucan Computing Ltd Solutions Inc. mitchell1981 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Can anyone confirm if 'Total Care' is part of the same company? We have an iPad under repair that seems to have gone missing, and we have insurance with them until the end of term. I'm guessing we are no longer covered!
Jamman960 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Total Care is part of Solutions although I believe its underwritten by an insurance company. They seem to do repairs in house and then go out to the insurance company if they have to. Simon Birch(Director) has been taken on by GBM and says he'll be transferring everything over to there which I assume includes the Insurance/support - we've got some of ours on a monthly insurance and a load of them insured for the duration of the lease.

Had it collected just before half-term. Seems to have left here but never been recorded as arrived - the TotalCare portal still seems to be online.

Would you be able to share that e-mail address via PM so that I can try to locate our missing iPad that went back to Solutions in the week before half-term?
mitchell1981 Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 Just found this in my emails that I apparently skipped over when it came in! Monday 3rd June 2019 Dear ..... I am writing to you today as I am hoping we might get to work together again in the future. As you may know, regrettably, on Friday 24th May, Solutions inc. ceased to trade. Having worked for the company for over twenty years, this was difficult news for me to process. I had never envisaged working with a different team. However, I am still as passionate as ever about my role and once over the shock, on Tuesday last week I set out to discover whether there was another Apple Solution Expert for Education who could enable me to continue to support you. I am delighted to tell you, there is. Through a rigorous process of elimination, I consulted with Apple and other industry contacts, made a shortlist, spoke and met with a number of ASEs. I was looking for a company who are financially strong with a product and service portfolio to meet your needs and a team who share my values. Today I have accepted a new role as Regional Manager for GBM. Now we can continue to work together as before but with the backing of a considerably larger organisation. My top priority from this moment is to provide continuity of service and in most cases, pick up where we left off in terms of parent schemes and project delivery. I have chosen GBM because they can provide the full portfolio of services we need including an equivalent to TotalCare. Tomorrow I will receive my new equipment along with a new email address and phone number. With kindest regards, Simon. https://gbmdt.co.uk/education
crc-ict Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 I have some further information on this that might be of interest to @mitchell1981 and anyone else with items under repair at Solutions: I have been in contact with the FRP Advisory, the liquidators acting for Solutions Inc Group, and they tell me that they are currently working to establish what third-party property is on Solutions premises, and will be in touch with owners once this process is completed to arrange for return of the items. So hopefully those of us with equipment at Solutions will not lose it for good. 1
Brimstone Posted June 11, 2019 Posted June 11, 2019 Not being an authorised ASE for education can't have helped matters either. Solutions Inc were still Authorised by Apple as an ASE when they folded, their retail business did for them
