FragglePete Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Reader installed during our MDT Sequence. Then set to default by GPO. We don't allow use of Edge at present, only Chrome and IE as Impero won't work with Edge. However, I have been playing to the beta of Credge (The new Edge) and have to say I'm quite impressed by it so far. Pete 1
hardtailstar Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Adobe reader as all our internal forms are editable PDFs to save on that paper waste.
k-strider Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 because we depoly Windows 10 LTSC we dont have Edge so reader al the way.... we had lots of printing problems with PDFs and Edge when we used W10 Edu.... just like everyone else
gmonks Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 its as far as i can tell a modern apps thing. They dont use the full windows print engine (for want of a better term) they use some cut down pos that as others have stated if you have a copier with codes is a nightmare as it just kills the print queue for everyone. Im assuming at this point ms dont intent to change this functionality as its been present in every version of windows 10 i assume its just the way modern apps work and not a bug Thank you! You're right, it kills the print queue. I'm going to disable Edge Printing (available from 1809) and then probably just use the reg key to put the old windows photo viewer on. I keep reminding staff to right click and print when wanting to print a photo but a lot forget!
free780 Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Maybe MS believe you will be paperless with Windows 10. I've had the Adobe Reader can't see any printers issue on and off for 10 years. There's too much legacy with PDFs to work correctly in any 3rd party viewer.
tmoon-mint Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Thank you! You're right, it kills the print queue. I'm going to disable Edge Printing (available from 1809) and then probably just use the reg key to put the old windows photo viewer on. I keep reminding staff to right click and print when wanting to print a photo but a lot forget! Let me know how you get on with that particular GPO. I got all excited when I saw it in the 1809 policy templates but when I applied it to my testing OU nothing seemed to happen. Users could still access the print menu in Edge and send jobs (that would then inevitably get stuck in the queue).
mavhc Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Chrome. There is an Impero Edge extension though. The problem is photocopier people can't write software, they can barely get their old fashioned drivers working, let alone the new Type 4 ones. Have you tried using Type 4 XPS drivers?
