chazzy2501 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I've been quoted a Huawei OceanStor 2200 v3, 16TB, for £11k this is ONLY a few grand more than spinning storage from HP or Dell (emc2) 9 vs 11. I'm super tempted at the idea of having full SSD storage but I wonder how solid the device will be and what the support will be like. NEED MORE INPUT
crc-ict Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I reckon at the moment it would be a brave person that bought into anything made by Huawei. The restrictions might be coming from the US, but most of the tech giants are US based, so who else is going to do a Google and ARM on them? Also we have a tendency to copy things that the US do, so how long before we veto Huawei too?
Fazza Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 See the news on the USA who are currently blocking Huawei products. Google are only giving them 3 more months of updates (or so I hear) and even the likes of Lenovo are getting ready for whatever the USA may do next. If the same ends up going for their servers you may not get any future updates on them from a USA based product like Windows.
