CoffeyMD Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 I'm a new user. I work as a 4-H Youth Specialist for University of Missouri Extension. I'm headquartered in Newton County MO and work in 3 adjacent counties. We've recently acquired 6 Digiblue QX5 Microscopes and am looking to see if there is software that will make them work with Windows 10.
mavhc Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Probably not worth the effort, the software was always terrible, qx3 didn't even work properly with xp, or dual core cpus. 2
DJ-1701 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 (edited) If you're running 64-Bit (which unless you only have 3GB of RAM, why wouldn't you) it's not compatible. Edited May 22, 2019 by DJ-1701 1
ricki Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I tried to get these to work a bit back and never managed it Richard 1
synaesthesia Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Those devices are fit for the skip and not much else sorry to say! 1
PotNoodleTech Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 They didn't work properly 10+ years ago on XP or Windows 7 your chances of getting them running on Win10 are low to none. 1
Koldov Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Welcome to EDUGEEK! If you use the search function on here (or Google 'Digiblue QX5 Microscope' the second hit for me is EDUGEEK results) it doesn't look very promising! You will find 99% of techs (including myself) gave up on these about 10 years ago - ours went in the trash after a week of trying to find compatible drivers for Win 10 (and failing), getting it installed on Win 7 only for it to crash or deny it was plugged in and eventually resorting to XP and being very disappointed with the results.... Not worth the effort. 1
localzuk Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 Everything made by DigiBlue went in the recycling bin a good 7/8 years ago here. They just don't work on anything newer than XP properly. 1
witch Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 I tried hard to get them to work with Windows 7 but couldnt even do that - ending up throwing them away I'm afraid 1
mavhc Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 They should have open sourced the software so someone could fix it 1
CoffeyMD Posted May 23, 2019 Author Posted May 23, 2019 Thanks for the response. hard to accept that a piece of technology like this isn't savable, but that's what I'm hearing. 1
mikes Posted May 23, 2019 Posted May 23, 2019 (edited) yeah maybe there might be a generic driver if you can find out who actually manufactured the hardware? sometimes these firms just repackage other vendors optics into a gaudy blue plastic case. I haven't seen a digiblue device in 10 years. It'd be like hunting down 64bit drivers for an old inkjet printer, a wild goose chase. Edited May 23, 2019 by mikes
Accura2k7 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tXCBmx6QKXgCzLNW2xQkPkj_9YrvS4Go There is the Windows 10 64bit drivers for them... I have them working here on Windows 10 without issues. 1
synaesthesia Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/143220152976?chn=ps So little money, yet so much more advanced than the QX5s ever were despite their tiny package. Big blue stuff with shiny buttons and "Intel" written on the side doesn't carry weight in 2019.
mavhc Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 TTS just rebrand stuff, so aren't in control of the software. They did hire a hardware engineer recently, so now they're not completely outsourcing everything.
synaesthesia Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Of course, just showing the point that you can spend tiny amount of money for something that does the same job, just the first thing that came to mind
mavhc Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Basically try to get something with no software, and built in Windows drivers. Then you can use any software you want with it.
skofiled Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi there. Found your post and files, downloaded and copied files over existing. Install on Win 10 which seemed to work (failed before with 32 bit), but Digital Blue seems still not to work. Have I missed something, or assumed the incorrect way to complete? Thanks Tony
Accura2k7 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Have you installed the drivers? I build them into the ISO using NTLite, but you can manually install them too...
skofiled Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi there downloaded and installed NTlite, but I can't see the device in the list displayed (unless it is listed as something slughtly obscure)... (nor in system manager come to that). I have had this Digital Blue kicking around and not able to use for about 6-7 years, so I thought 1 final attempt.... tony
Accura2k7 Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 When you open the ISO, goto the Drivers section and drag and drop the driver folder in to it. That will add the driver files to the image so when you plug the device in, it understands it correctly.
skofiled Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Tried that and get the following error :- Existing item: Digital Blue | marsqx5.inf | 1.0.0.0 04/04/2007 x86 Wrong architecture: C:\Users\tonys\Downloads\Digital_Blue_QX5_Microscope\Digital_Blue_QX5_Microscope\stvqx5.inf Oddly there is not a stvqx5.inf file But there are :- stvqx5 Cabinet file stvqx5 Security Catalogue stvqx5 Setup information stvqx5.inf1 INF1 File stvqx5.sys System file stvqx5.sys1 SYS1 File Looking into the "stvqx5 Setup information" file there seem to be lots of 32 bit references. Not quite sure if its looking for installed files or trying to install them?? Thanks for your assistance and time Tony
skofiled Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 Managed to build a driver install file and ran. Restarted computer as suggested by updates,,, Still not working, and windows 10 seems unable to find the Digital Blue software.. Any suggestions? Tony
Accura2k7 Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Im back in school middle of next week, ill give one a go
