Monitor stand for Confidence monitor

OK folks,

 

I'm after the thoughts of the community and fantastic people here on edugeek for ideas and comments. :DI'm after something like this:

• a small monitor stand that has wheels/casters on it to make it movable
  
• mounts for/to put a 22" monitor or larger, or a large TV 28-32" likely size
  
• Low-down so as not to obstruct the view of the front of the hall.
  
• Ideally black in colour but not a deal-breaker.
  
• Able to be angled down/up with some movement
  

 

It has to be easily movable and not fixed as it's going to be moved in and out at least once a day. It's to put a 22" monitor or larger on as a "Confidence monitor" at the front of our main hall for assemblies etc.

 

I've done some googling, but I'm struggling to find anything decently priced and that's not in the USA - other than that I'm drawing a blank. The pics below are the only sort of thing I've been able to find.

 

Has anyone used any companies, or got any suppliers they've used for stuff like this in?

How about thinking about it in 2 halves. See if you can find a trolley type of thing and a suitable VESA mount, then look at ways of joining the two together.

A quick Google for "tripod vesa mount" brings up this:

That's a tripod (like you'd use for a camera), but with a VESA mount. You could add wheels:

I have similar to David's link, except mine more resembles a speaker stand than a camera tripod.

 

I hadn't thought about wheels for it, but that's a nice idea.

I did think about a normal TV stand with wheels, but it's going to be in the eyeline of the students then. The wheels bit is purely due to the fact if it's designed that way, all they have to do is wheel it across from the side of the hall and then wheel it back once done. That's it. No calling IT to "setup the monitor thing" so I'm trying to preempt that excuse from them.

 

We know how teachers think and we have to simplify things for them, so they don't have an excuse NOT to do something.

Can you get an adjustable TV stand, set it as low as possible and cut of the un-needed length?

Or one of those desk mounted monitor arms on a small trolley?

Unicol do this sort of stuff and it's good quality, but generally isn't very cheap. I only use them for bigger av installs, such as in our main hall where I needed a custom mount for a very large projector. You should be able to get a base, a vertical pole which you can cut to length and a monitor mount to fit it.

We don't have the tools or tech staff onsite to be ale to modify anything very easily unfortunately. As it's a school I need to consider the Health and Safety aspects of custom kit if it's been made in-house too.

Have you got any examples of the ones you've used at all?

 

I came across one company that would create a custom case for the TV, but we'd have to buy a TV and send it to them to fit the case. At this stage I want to see if I can reuse existing kit, or purchase a larger monitor screen if needed. For the time being buying a TV for this option, wouldn't be an option really due to budget.

 

I was looking for some off the shelf kind of kit, but it does seem more of a challenge than I originally thought.

We don't have one with a TV on it, but have a similar one which has a CCTV camera on it for lesson observations, which uses unicol kit. They have always been really helpful when I have contacted them in the past, the base, poles and mounts are all interchangeable, and the poles can be cut to length.

The one at back that's low down to the ground is sort of what I'm after.

 

There's solutions to have it moved in and out e.g. on a tripod, tripod dolly, bracket etc. In schools teachers don't need an excuse NOT to do something, so I want the solution to encompass the fact they can move it in and out themselves as part of their assembly duties. Moving a monitor in and out when you're the sole tech in a school can be easily done by one of the teaching staff who are doing the assembly.
