iatkinson Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Depends which ones, some of the pubs in Blackburn are extortionate now and being on that wage as a techy in blackburn myself it's hard to make ends meet some months.
Zoom7000 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 (edited) beer in pubs is cheaper though Don't drink I'm afraid! Either way though, it is true, I can't get a mortgage down here on £24.5k, I dunno how on Earth I would manage a mortgage on £13-15k. It is true though, albeit house prices are cheaper it is true, most things (ammenity items) are the same price regardless of where you are in the country. BT phone line and Be* broadband still costs me £11 and £18/month. Virgin Media will still cost me £11/month. O2 contract will still cost me £25/month. Nappies are no cheaper up north. Prescriptions still £7.10 The list goes on and on... As much as I'd love to have my own home and not waste £750/month + Bills on rent, I'm almost becoming accustomed to accepting that owning your own home maybe isn't the be all and end all of everything! Still would like more money though! Edited May 13, 2008 by Zoom7000
Joanne Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 changed the link so it goes straight to the job description. ICT Technician has anyone applied out of curiosity?
john Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 I would but the Salary isn't enough to cover the commute cost.
NickHoughton Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 has anyone applied out of curiosity? Thinking about it. Would be approx 5-7k pay cut, so'd need to go in at top end of salary. Are you the current post-holder? Don't think it is really viable. The last post I was interviewed for was 14.3 to 16.3 and it was just up the road so I'd have saved on transport costs.
