Hi,

Once again after months of functioning correctly our WSUS server installed on a server running 2012 R2 appears to have stopped getting downloads in the last couple of weeks with the following issue :-

Reason: HTTP status 401: The requested resource requires user authentication.

Source File: /d/msdownload/update/software/crup/2019/04/lip-sw-ke_fc4672a7e7177ef7ab987b5ba35df5c202b0952c.cab

Destination File: D:\WSUS\WsusContent\2C\FC4672A7E7177EF7AB987B5BA35DF5C202B0952C.cab

I've trawled the logs and can download the relevant cab files directly onto the server. I've tried using wsustil checkhealth which results in "The server is failing to download some updates." in the event logs.

I've checked the permissions on the target content folder ( set to full for Network Service)

I've tried changing the IIS ports from 8530 and 8531 to 80 and 443 to see if this was the issue but still get the same result.

Any ideas appreciated before I reinstall from scratch.

Regards

Chris

I wouldn't bother troubleshooting to much tbh. Just delete the content directory and resync, usually solves most issues.
