Virgin Media Faceplate? What's it for?

Hey peeps

 

So in our new house we have a bunch of network ports and a virgin media branded faceplate with no port on it? Does anyone know what all this stuff does?

 

I've checked and Virgin Media broadband isn't in our area but FTTH BT broadband is.

Looks like it's the new build pre-wiring option they do, normally it's within flats, but a lots of developers will pre-install it nowadays to save people digging up roads later when they do allow connections (especially around lease holds where you can't legally dig up their road etc )

 

Guessing that's the Eurosat module in the 2nd pic. In regards to the last picture, I'd guess it might be one of their new telephone over fibre boxes, if you check on the bottom does it have more ports like a hub? If so it's probably the Hub3 with Digital Voice

Ouch. Whip those sockets off and straighten them up, it hurts my eyes. The amount of Socket sins I fixed in my new build house as a decorated was painful.

 

The one with a sat box is what steve says, a EuroSat box. The last box does look like what BT install as part of a FTTH installation. I'm suprised VM even bothered paying to put cable in if FTTH is an option.

They pre-wire they quite a lot now as others have said. We have cases in other new build where Openreach is already wired into the houses we have built (Housing Association), we try to use Openreach to stop the sole contractor issues some places get.

 

We don't put Virgin in though which is interesting, maybe we should be. I like to think the faceplates aren't wonky as well but there is no way I would ever vouch for that!

so you got your part exchange sorted then for your new place ? how did the negotiations go ?

Sorry about the late reply, been manic! The house and wedding happening this weekend.. We don't do things in halves! Thanks for all your help, it makes a bit more sense now [emoji4]

 

The negotiations went well they included everything, all extras so turf, flooring, appliances, outside tap, shower over bath and also are paying the stamp duty! We also got the house for £261,000 rather than £270,000. We had to walk away twice though and waited a week for them to finally call us and agree to everything [emoji106]

 

The faceplates look straight to me, maybe it's the picture but they're definetley not wonky, I should also mention that the property is freehold.
