popeel Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 hi, Anyone use Ubiquiti unifi wireless in school in the Leeds area ?/ Please reply as I might need to ask some general questions about the product and your satisfaction before we migrate our wireless solution across. Thanks in advanced
DalekSec Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Not in Leeds but i use UniFi at home, at the old place and trailed it at the new place. Didn't work correctly at the current place too many errors with RADIUS
popeel Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 We use approximately 65 APs at the movement. So, it's not a good news that if that has errors on radius . Thanks
DalekSec Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 The first errors we had were RADIUS clients were all showing as the same IP in the controller, something you could live with i guess but was annoying so we had to pull out our trail devices. Then (1 years later) when they had Beta firmware with the fix we tried again..... this time the SSO didn't work with the proxy, the RADIUS client ID the proxy was getting was incorrect, it had the MAC of the AP followed by 8 random characters. Spoke to UniFi Dev who couldn't figure it out and haven't heard anything from in over a month. I love UniFI, i loved it at my old place and i love it at home, but the difference being both didn't use RADIUS. Once RADIUS was in the mix UniFi kept not working correctly, looks like we are having to stick with Ruckus now. (Which works fine)
IrritableTech Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 I'm in the Leeds area and have 52 Unifi APs running across site. Feel free to PM me.
Primus Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Not in the Leeds area but close to 100 APs - we use RADIUS and have none of those issues listed above.
hallb15 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 I'm in Leeds and use Unifi. I only have 18APs, 9 switches and a gateway though. Happy to help if I can.
howartp Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Following. I'm near Leeds, currently 75 Ruckus APs but Ruckus, Radius and Smoothwall don't play nicely together. Recently deployed 5 Unifi (Nano HD) APs to play with - they're working great with Radius and what testing we've done. Need to test more with my colleagues and more devices (maybe an ICT class) and see, but i'm looking to use spare budget to buy 75 APs this summer, to roll out October Half Term.
IrritableTech Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Yeah - we fitted it last Easter, so just over a year (although we only actually fitted the last external AP this Easter!). @IrritableTech do you use Unifi now?
howartp Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 @IrritableTech do you use Unifi now?Yeah - we fitted it last Easter, so just over a year (although we only actually fitted the last external AP this Easter!). Adam, do you use Radius? Me and Tim both have Ruckus and Smoothwall (NYCC) and Radius don't work. Might be worth popping up - was just seeing if you were nearer Smoothwall as we're both going on Tuesday.
timbo343 Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 He's not too far, about 10 mins from us and 10 mins from Smoothwall.
BillyAB Posted May 1, 2019 Posted May 1, 2019 Yeah, we are running radius with radius assigned VLANs on the UniFi Kit.
popeel Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Thanks everyone for prompt responds. I think I have more confidence now. Thanks again
Obzen Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Nowhere near Leeds however I've just installed 30 AP-AC-PROs and 24 UniFi switches with RADIUS and works like a charm.
