podcasting - which software?

Can anyone suggest which software we look into for podcasting?

 

We have no macs in the school so it would have to run pureley on XP clients.

We are a secondary school where we would like the option to be able to do video podcasts also - maybe capture powerpoint slides with audio - is this possible?

 

I have been told to look at podium - is there anything better out there?

or

Goldwave - GoldWave - Audio Editing, Recording, Conversion, Restoration, & Analysis Software

Staff use Podium here and love it - we've yet to get involved with a problem... scary...

Thinking outside of the classroom - it would be preferable if students can access from home - some of them may not have XP

Another vote for Audiacity as for the video you should check out the free Microsoft Producer 2003

 

Its free and allows you to mix and match, powerpoint slides, videos, sounds and web pages into a movie file that you can export as WMV or Windows streaming video files. Its really easy to use and the best bit is that it is free if you have powerpoint 2003.

We had a demo of Podium last week. The teachers were quite impressed but at £25 per licence I think we're going to stick to Audacity.

 

 

If you have the funds though, Podium looks user-friendly even to the most luddite of teachers.

We use both podium and audacity at our school.

 

Both work well. Audacity we have installed centrally on the server and podium is deployed via GPO. The easier setup for administrators is defo podium.

 

It also very easy to use for both pupils and teachers.

 

If you need to use all the extra sound features, use audacity other give podium a shot.
