That's JDK though, not JRE

I might be imagining it, but didn't Oracle say only the JDK would be available from v11 onwards? The JDK is the JRE. :confused:

 

Also, if you go to download Corretto v11 only the JDK is available...

Wouldn't JDK (Java Development Kit) have JRE (Java Runtime Environment)?

Do you happen to know what the difference is between Corretto 8 and 11?

I would go with v11 unless the software you need Java for specifically requires v8.

Yeah, just installing a load of stuff you don't want, slow installer down, etc.

 

Basically no one wants to use Java on the desktop, it's only used for server stuff now except legacy things, which is why Oracle is encouraging people to get rid of it by charging for JRE.
