Would of loved to come but it's 4 hours for me from the Wirral 😑

That's a shame - I could have given you a lift (I'm from the Wirral but live in Widnes now) except that I'm combining it with a whole week away with my wife. Keep an eye out for the North West EduByte cropping up - we could share a lift to that when it happens

still - nice to know about more people from civilised areas -

Just as a heads-up for those of you who have not booked accommodation, there is a brand new Premier Inn in Salisbury, the Premier Inn Salisbury, South Milford.

https://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/wiltshire/salisbury/salisbury-south-milford.html

This is so new that when we put up the front page article we couldn't see it listed (it's not even visible on Google Maps satellite view which was updated last summer).

It is also cheaper than the one to the north as well as being more direct to get to the venue from. We have changed our booking to this one for our stay.

Many thanks to @ICTDirect_Dave for the heads-up for this.

Also, the venue has let us know that the postcode has changed (apparently there is fun and games with this!). The one you need for sat-navs is - SP1 2SF which will take you to St Osmunds church which is just over the road and a few yards down from the main school entrance.

I have amended the one listed in our original announcement to show this one.

Adds two minutes to my walk!

Sorry, wasn't paying attention to this thread...

The Premier Inn only opened about 4 weeks ago and a McDonalds opened next to it last week. There is also a Tesco right next door :)

As for our postcode, it's a long story but the official postcode will direct you via The Close and the Cathedral where should the nice man in the security booth let you through (unlikely...) then there is no parking anyway. For a handy travel guide to find our carpark, refer to this page:-

Alas, 4½ hours drive for me is a bit painful for a 9am start, and I don't like staying away from home overnight, 'cos soppy git that I am I miss my kids too much. Can someone make sure @ICTDirect_Dave is okay without me? He might be a bit sensitive on the day.

(Just means I need to come up with an excuse to head Preston way for a factory floor tour...)

*sniff* I'll cope, somehow!

We're also about 4½ hours drive from yours aren't we?

That said, plenty to do up here if you're bringing the family for a few days.

I'm sure they could do without you for an hour whilst you pop down for a brew.

A much more reasonable 3! More likely to find myself that way for another professional reason, though, so I'm sure I could stop off on the way if so...

I’ve been looking online for accommodation (I can’t be doing with the corporate aesthetics of a Premier Inn!) and the first recommendation for me from Booking.com was a bunk bed at Stonehenge Youth Hostel - in a female dormitory! :eyebrows:

There were a few other reasonably priced B&Bs a couple of miles outside the town (city?) centre but I found this on Hotels.com - Sarum College

At £86* for 2 nights bed and breakfast, I’ll have to tighten my belt for the next few weeks, though. And I don’t know how I’m going to find my way to the conference from there. It must be a whole 2 minute walk away!

Happy days.

:cheer2:

(*I clicked through to Hotels.com via Topcashback, so I’ll also get a rebate of at least £6.95 - enough for a pint or two.)
