We're looking into some new handsets...

We'd need 5 of them, and they need to be £80 or less. Android 7 or better, 4g and 3000mah batts. Compatible with the 3CX app!

We've got a vodafone contract, but it's sim only and our current iphone 5 and samsung non-smart candybars are not compatible with 3CX!

That price is a hard point to hit tbh. I am not sure how much the lower end Nokia's are, they could be an okay option as they are targeting more budge end stuff but with decent updates for Google OS etc.

We bought some of these recently: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorola-Moto-SIM-Free-Smartphone-Black/dp/B07G2G4G9F/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=moto+e5&qid=1554134725&s=gateway&sr=8-4. Would be less than £80 once you take off the VAT. Very basic, runs Android Go to save storage space but I would imagine they support 3cx as Go just reduces the size of the built-in apps to fit in the 8GB space. I can test one for you if you want.

If you could that'd be great!

I need to make it cheap, the BM at one of the schools is twitchy about the safeguarding implications of smartphones, she'll have a coronary if I tell her they're going to cost real money as well! 😂

I was literally about to mention I saw one of those in Tesco last night and I thought it might be an option (Tesco's model was £80 but could be locked to o2)

Ok, I've tested 3CX this morning on one and it does work but only with the transport set to UDP rather than TLS. I believe UDP is the default and it was only my extension that I was testing encryption on but worth bearing in mind.

I did also note that the battery is only 2800mah and I suspect the 3CX app is fairly power hungry so it might be worth seeing if you can spend the extra to get the E5 or E5 Plus which are 4000 and 5000 respectively.

If you have to keep wifi on all the time to listen for incoming connections it will use up more battery than normal. Usually Android will turn off wifi until it's required/every x seconds to check for new data.
