Small colour laser printer advice - please no sales people :0)

I need to get a replacement colour laser printer for the head, it needs to be colour laser & can also do double sided.

 

Last one she had was HP and the drivers for her windows 10 surface pro were a total nightmare, yes the printer did support windows 10 but not sure it should have.

 

Anyway I have been looking at the following but have never got a Brother before, so open to any none sales suggestions or advice as printers are really not my thing.

With brothers you usually have to pay out for new drums every so often. I'm trying to get rid of our brothers as replacement drums are not cost effective anymore after a few years of service and the price of new replacement printers.

 

Sounds like your not a HP fan, but I would recommend the HP LaserJet M452DN. Got 9 of these and not a moment of problems. All in all a small colour laser that takes 5k colour cartridges.

I can't really vouch for the printer as I only bought it at the start of the month - but the hl-l8260cdw has a rebate with it (until the end of this month...) so works out at 53ish.

@andy_b did it come with starter toners? Just worried the cashback means they send it out without toners

At 30k pages you'll need a new drum at around £100 mark so maybe buy 2 printers at this price, lol

 

Saying that you would hope it would take a while for one user to get through this number.

lol I just called the sales person to ask how much the toners are and he said to get a few printers as it was cheaper.

Can I ask why it must be laser? There are more cost effective inkjets now, like the HP Pagewide devices. Cost a lot less in inks too.

Not sure about the inkjets you mention but generally inkjets are water based and the text can get washed away if it gets wet, which is not great for printing / sending letters.

Does anyone use Printerland for toner replacements?

I would look at toner prices for machines, most of the machines are about the same these days but running costs with things such as drums can make a difference. Lexmark do some good quality machines might be worth looking at them or Samsung.

I'm always a big fan of the HP kit - not as bullet proof as they used to be - but parts are replaceable, they can take a bit of a beating. That and i've never had any issues with getting hold of unbranded toner either.

Another one to look at is Canon - My home iSensys 6230dw printer is currently on over 200k prints. Downside is finding non branded toners can push costs right up.
